Looking for volunteers to take over the organisation of Ecofest in Tavistock. After a number of successful events the current organisers are unable to commit to running the festival in the future and it will be closed down if no one takes it on this year. If someone is available to take on the role we would be happy to provide support - we have all the health and safety documents in place, plus a list of attendees and suppliers, bank account etc and we would be happy to pass all this information over to the new organisers. Please contact [email protected] if interested by the end of February 25.

Ecofest was an idea that developed between Tavistock Scrapstore, Tavistock Bid, Trudy Scrumptious Café, Transition Tavistock, Tavistock Community Gardening and Precious Plastic.
It will be a fabulous one day festival in our local Meadows and will include stalls from local businesses and community groups, recycled art, poety, music, talks, a swop and share, repair shop, machine that recycles plastic, and craft and activities such as green woodworking.
This festival aims to celebrate sustainability in our community, giving local businesses and groups the opportunity to showcase their sustainable products and solutions to environmental concerns, and to raise money for Tavistock Community Gardening, who create small space, abundant and beautiful gardens throughout our town.
We also hope to educate and deliver a positive environmental message through practical activities, performances and art that celebrate natural resources, proposing new ideas for green living to consumers along with suggestions (in the form of a booklet) of where to shop locally and ethically.
The money that we raise from this event will go to Tavistock Community Gardening who create small space gardens, that are abundant and beautiful, for the benefit of people and wildlife. They are an ever-growing group of volunteers on a mission to convince everyone of the value of locally grown food, the beauty of the humble vegetable and the joy of growing and harvesting your own. They find tiny unused spaces throughout the town, planting harvest-able fruit, vegetables and herbs carefully labelled for people to pick and eat, or take home and cook.
Please get in touch if you are interested in taking part in this amazing event!
