Kenward Trust

Kenward Trust A charity founded in 1968, saving and transforming lives of people with alcohol and drug addiction

Kenward Trust is a registered charity with a Christian heritage and ethos that deals with drug and alcohol misuse, homelessness and offender resettlement. We run residential, community and youth programmes across Kent and East Sussex. Last year we provided structured treatments for 721 people and support and brief interventions to countless others. We have grown over the last 42 years to deliver n

ationally recognised, effective and successful drug and alcohol recovery programmes for adults. We offer a pathway of care from informal advice sessions to three years residential support, with proven intensive residential recovery through to supported housing rehabilitation programmes. In the community we offer people the support of an alcohol detox service, local alcohol information and advice clinics and a variety of workshops to help people address issues around alcohol and drug misuse. Historically we have worked with young people in schools, youth groups and ‘on the streets’, including young people who are at risk of school exclusion or have made a first criminal offence – now under threat from statutory funding cuts.

This Recovery Month, we are celebrating the power of recovery, challenging stigma, and recognising that recovery is possible for everyone.

Throughout the month, we will be sharing real stories from people whose lives have been transformed by recovery. These stories are honest, inspiring and offer hope to anyone currently struggling with addiction, poor mental health, or the challenges that often come alongside them.

Recovery is about more than overcoming addiction. It's about rebuilding relationships, restoring confidence, improving wellbeing, and creating a future that once felt impossible.

Whether you are on your own recovery journey, supporting a loved one, or simply want to learn more, we want you to know that you are not alone.

At Kenward Trust, we are here to support individuals, families and friends every step of the way.

Recovery is possible. Hope is real. Help is available.

What does residential rehab really look like?

This September, Open Houses 2026 is giving people the opportunity to step inside residential rehabilitation services, meet the people behind them and better understand the role they can play in recovery.

Kenward Trust will be opening our doors on Monday 28th September, giving you the opportunity to visit us, meet our team and discover more about the work we do and the difference residential rehabilitation can make.

Our CEO Penny Williams, one of the driving forces behind Open Houses, recently joined the In Recovery – Ark House Podcast to talk about why residential rehabilitation matters and why we need to open more doors, start more conversations and challenge stigma.

The truth is, we shouldn’t still need this day. But we do.

Overdose continues to affect every community. Yet it can be prevented. We know how to reduce risk and keep people safe. By speaking openly, learning from one another, and treating each other with care and respect, we build a world where fewer lives are lost.

On today's brand new episode of 𝗜𝗡 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗬 - 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗦𝗘 podcast we speak to Mick at New Vision in Bradford, who have launched a vital campaign "You Can Save A Life" .

The initiative provides free, rapid training and distribute take-home Naloxone kits—a fast-acting medication that temporarily reverses the effects of an op**te overdose. By empowering local residents, businesses, and emergency services to recognise overdose symptoms and administer Naloxone, the campaign aims to turn everyday citizens into life-saving first responders.

On this new episode we also talk to Penny Williams from Choices Rehabs and Kenward Trust about another vital campaign, Open Houses 2026.

And author and founder of The Sober Girl Society Millie Gooch, talks to us about her brand new book, Hanxiety.

Behind every addiction, there's a family looking for help.

Addiction doesn't just affect one person. It impacts parents, siblings, partners and friends who are all searching for answers.

Through our Save Young Lives campaign, we're raising funds to help young people affected by ketamine addiction access the specialist treatment they urgently need.

Because recovery changes lives, not just for individuals, but for entire families.
