Today is a very sad day 😢😢

We have had to say goodbye to 2 of our long time residents

Truffle the pig and Sammy the goat

Truffle was an older pig who suffered from arthritis in her back legs and has been on pain medication keeping her comfortable for a while but things had deteriorated over the last couple of weeks.

Sammy was only 2&1/2 but suffered from a congenital bone laxity condition which has progressed rapidly over the last 6 months.
Until yesterday he was managing really well on his pain meds but today it was obvious that things were only going to get worse

We had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye

Their welfare comes first always but my heart is broken 💔

Run pain free now my darlings ###

Most people spend a sunny Sunday in the garden or down the pub having a lovely relaxing time

But no not here at DFT- we’ve spent it doing a big muck out of the pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits

All the old bed taken out, a good sweep and clean and lovely fresh bed put in….. back breaking work but has to be done

These guys didn’t help at all 😂😂

Inside the stables it’s 31 degrees which is HOT

But

Out in the paddock it was 44, then went to 46 and then so high the thermometer couldn’t read it!!!

The horses are definitely better off in their stables having cold showers than standing out in that sun with no shade!

DIY sheep shearing this year- it nearly killed me but we got there!

The photo does no justice to how slimy the mud was but Toffee had a lovely wallow and was very pleased with herself!
