Compaid announces closure after 40 years of supporting people across Kent.

Compaid has announced that it will close after 40 years of supporting disabled, older and disadvantaged people across Kent, following a sustained period of significant financial pressure. The charity has faced a perfect storm of rising costs, the wider economic downturn and broader global economic pressures, alongside increasing pressure on the financial viability of its services.

The charity's Trustees have spent recent months carefully considering a range of options for Compaid's future. Following this process, they have had to make the difficult decision to close the charity.

Compaid's services will cease by 17 December 2026, with the formal process of closing the charity continuing after that date.

💙 It was wonderful to welcome Steve from Places for People to Compaid, and we're so grateful for the donation of 35 Vodafone SIM cards for our clients.

These SIM cards will provide 35 of our digital skills learners with free internet access on the go through our MiFi units, enabling them to continue learning, stay connected, and live more independent lives.

💙 Thank you once again to Steve and everyone at Places for People for your generosity and commitment to making our communities more inclusive.

💙😁 A huge thank you to Tonbridge Juniors FC for raising an incredible £425 for Compaid during their Charity Golf Day earlier this month!

Your generosity will help us continue making everyday life more accessible for disabled, older and vulnerable people across Kent through our accessible transport and digital skills services.

It's a reminder time 💻👩‍💻👨‍💻

Every Wednesday morning Karen from COMPAID comes to BRIDGES to provide digital training to help people be more confident in using their laptop, smart phone or tablet.

Karen is kind and helpful and comes with vast experience in teaching!
She has built up a "fun club" of regulars who would book regular sessions with Karen so they can improve their digital skills.

💙 It was wonderful to spend this morning with our Edenbridge Outreach trainer Karen, and catch up with our clients Lorraine and John at The Bridges Centre .

We first met them at Sevenoaks District Council Official’s Silver Bells Christmas Party last year and introduced them to our digital skills support in Edenbridge. Just five months later, they’re now enjoying regular sessions with Karen, learning and growing in confidence every week.

🤩 Seeing the real difference our community support is making is something we’re incredibly proud of! A huge thank you to our amazing trainer Karen, and Mary and her team who run Bridges Cafe brilliantly.
