We are an active and adventurous group based in the heart of Brenchley and Matfield.

Each week we bring together around 50 young people between the ages of 8 and 14 to take part in an inspiring and action-packed scouting programme.

What a night! Armed with little more than cardboard boxes, sleeping bags, determination, and perhaps a questionable amount of campfire stew, members from across 1st Brenchley & Matfield Scout Group braved the elements for the Kent Scouts Porchlight Sleepout. The event, organised by our fantastic Young Leader Immy, saw our young people and leaders give up the comfort of their beds for one night to help raise awareness of homelessness and support the incredible work of Porchlight.

The evening was filled with fun, friendship, fundraising, and a powerful reminder of why the event matters. As our cardboard city took shape and the temperatures dropped, we experienced just a tiny glimpse of the challenges faced by people who do not have the security of a warm home. It certainly gave us all something to think about.

We're incredibly proud of everyone who took part. From helping with the fundraising activities to setting up sleeping spaces and supporting one another throughout the night, our Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Young Leaders, volunteers, and families showed exactly what the Scout values are all about: caring for others and making a positive difference in our community.

However, our mission is not over yet!

We are still appealing for donations to help us reach our fundraising goal and support Porchlight's vital work helping people facing homelessness across Kent. Every pound donated will help make a real difference. Whether it's the cost of a coffee, a lunch, or a little more, every contribution adds up and is hugely appreciated.

If you'd like to support our sleepout challenge and help us make a difference, please consider donating via our JustGiving page. Thank you to everyone who has already sponsored us, shared our fundraising efforts, or sent messages of encouragement. Your support means the world to us.

As Baden-Powell encouraged Scouts to do, we're doing our best to leave the world a little better than we found it. With your help, we can continue doing exactly that.

**Please donate if you can and help us support Porchlight. Every little bit really does make a difference!**

So we did it. last night our cubs, scouts and explorers slept out for Porchlight at our hut in the heart of Brenchley. The kids slept out in cardboard shelters while some leaders spent the night under the stars. We are lucky and then returned home to a shower, good food and clean bed. But we are raising money for those who are unable to do that! If you are able to support us and push our fundraising over £2,000 we would appreciate it

A huge shout out to Rent N' Event- who provided us with 3 gazebos to assist our young people, totally free of charge. A great example of another local company willing to assist us in providing scouting to our young people but also to raise money for an awesome charity.

We have made our target for tonight’s Porchlight sleepout fundraising event. But let’s not stop there for this awesome charity!!! Tonight our cubs, scouts and explorers will be sleeping out in cardboard boxes but tomorrow they will go back to their homes. We are raising money for those who don’t have homes to go back to, for those whose home in a cardboard box. Please help us by donating

So this started with us asking one of our parents could they come along one evening and show us what they do for a job…. Fast forward a few months this resulted in one of the best nights we have had in cubs and then it was a privilege to accept last night much needs funds for our scout hut project of £336.00 from the sales of sausages

I can’t thank the community enough for getting behind the sausage project. Thank you to all those who brought a pack or added the sausage to your meal.

A huge shout out to The Poet at Matfield for joining in this fundraising and sticking it on the menu for a Sunday and huge praise and thanks to Craig and the team at Hammonds Butchers who brought there knowledge, skills and passion to this! They are legends!!!

Really does show what a great community spirit there is in brenchley and matfield area!

Please try and show your thanks by supporting these local businesses
