Holiday Club Day 5 - On our final day, the Splash police team came to share stories about the arrest of Jesus and those involved. They also tried to arrest several young leaders and got demoted to traffic duty....

The morning was spent in song, drama and craft and everyone (well, almost everyone!) got wet playing games, especially our young leaders.

In the afternoon each team built an emergency vehicle, then decorated, accessorised and raced them! What great examples of creativity and collaboration.

It is a privilege to share this week with so many children and volunteers. We are grateful that parents trust us to look after their children and pleased that we have had such positive feedback.

We could not do this without the support and prayers of so many people - from the adults who plan, prepare and deliver the programme to the amazing youth team who give up a week of their summer break to volunteer. The young people who are part of our team have boundless energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to serve - they are fantastic role models to all the children who attend and we are blessed to have them.

Holiday Club Day 4 - The Splash Fire Brigade rescued a cat from a tree...

The children learned the story of the man who was lowered through the roof to see Jesus, with the help of some volunteers and our puppets! We played some games, made telephones and explained to the children what landlines were 😁

Our Big Question for the children was "How do we know we can trust in Jesus?" and this afternoon we played parachute games, non-stop cricket and created wind spinners.

One more day to go - what will we do next?

Holiday Club Day 2 - Where the Coastguard are called out and Jesus calms a storm!

We have had another great day today and are very thankful for the cooler weather. The children enjoyed hearing about Jesus calming the storm and how he can help us all to calm the storms that may occur in us. They made lighthouses, danced, sang and signed to a song about lighthouses, and made boats!

Holiday Club Day 1 - A very hot day!

We started the week with a visit from the Splash Mountain Rescue Team, who were looking for a lost person (who turned out to be a sheep!). The children enjoyed sheep related craft and games this morning, while learning about the story of the lost sheep. Our leaders were challenged to be creative from a distance!

This afternoon we decorated Tshirts (they need ironing to set the paint!) and played some quieter games outside in the shade, with an ice pop break to stay hydrated ☀️☀️☀️

With assemblies done and "It's Your Move" transition workshops completed, we're into the final push with planning and preparation for the summer clubs. Kids Club in Petworth begins next week, Monday 27th July, and Splash Holiday Club in Pulborough begins on Monday 3rd August. The office and our homes are full of crates, boxes and stuff! It's a busy season, but we'll be ready. Bring it on!

After a very lovely visit to Hawthorn Primary School in Worthing this morning, we are excited to announce that from September we will be "splashing" the children and staff there every half term. It's always wonderful to partner with a new school in our area, especially after we've been recommended by the headteacher of another one of our schools! Splash continues to grow and we continue to feel very blessed to do what we do!

With our summer assemblies beginning to come to an end, here at Splash the work doesn't slow down! Our transition workshops for year 6's, called "It's Your Move" produced by Scripture Union, begin next week. With a good number of schools booked in, we're ready to roll. So with the workshops, and holiday club preparation, plus School Fairs and Flower Festivals, we're being kept busy and looking forward to a great summer.

Our new assemblies began today, with a visit to Fittleworth C of E Village School. With the theme of "Happy to be Me," the assembly was well received, with excited and engaged children, and no shortage of volunteers. With visits to Petworth Primary, St John the Baptist C of E Primary in Findon, Albourne C of E Primary and Shipley C of E Primary later this week, the assembly will have reached approximately 720 children by Wednesday afternoon! And this is just week 1! What a privilege it is to have an input into so many young lives, and what a responsibility we have. Here at Splash, we continually feel blessed and encouraged.

Next week begins our busiest time of the year! This summer term sees us out on the road with our assemblies and It's Your Move transition workshops, as well as holiday club planning and preparation, school fairs, flower festivals and autumn assembly planning. We're beginning to feel the heat! But we'll be ready!
