Today we have our final practise and run through of our Christmas assembly. On the theme of Christmas Comfort, we will be meeting a very special Agent who wants to offer comfort at Christmas to people who may be struggling when things get busy and loud.

So, that's a wrap with our "Asking for help is brave" assembly! With our last assembly for this half term at Vale School yesterday, we are quickly on to practising our Christmas assembly which we've manage to write already. We're ahead of the game! With just props to make and gather, a new script to learn, and a new song to play, it's time to break out the Christmas hats! But, there will be no spoilers just yet about our Christmas theme!

We were delighted to welcome Splash for Schools and Communities to our worship this week on the asking for help and showing bravery and courage.

The children saw Nick struggling and not wanting to ask for help. A child from Italy class came and helped Nick and folded up the blanket. We thought about how to ask for help and we heard about the story in The Bible Philippians 4 6-7 and using prayers to ask for help.

We collected our ideas of how to help others on the ‘helping hand’. We sang together and used the SPLASH prayer drill to pray together.

What a perfect start to a Tuesday! We took our latest assembly and "splashed" the staff and students of Hawthorns Primary School, in Worthing, for the very first time. We were welcomed so warmly by the staff we met, and we were greeted with politeness, enthusiasm, and respect by the students. What a pleasure it was to begin our partnership with this new school, and to feel so welcomed. This part of our job is simply the best! Partnering with our schools is a wonderful privilege, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside Hawthorns Primary School in the months and years ahead. Happy us!! 🥰

Last week we began to roll out our new Autumn 1 assemblies, taking our theme from the book "The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse." The quote below is easily read, but is it actually easy to say? We agree, here in the Splash Office, that asking for help can sometimes be really difficult. We want to allow the children in our schools to know that it's okay to not know everything, and to understand that it takes bravery to say "I need help."

Holiday Club Day 5 - On our final day, the Splash police team came to share stories about the arrest of Jesus and those involved. They also tried to arrest several young leaders and got demoted to traffic duty....

The morning was spent in song, drama and craft and everyone (well, almost everyone!) got wet playing games, especially our young leaders.

In the afternoon each team built an emergency vehicle, then decorated, accessorised and raced them! What great examples of creativity and collaboration.

It is a privilege to share this week with so many children and volunteers. We are grateful that parents trust us to look after their children and pleased that we have had such positive feedback.

We could not do this without the support and prayers of so many people - from the adults who plan, prepare and deliver the programme to the amazing youth team who give up a week of their summer break to volunteer. The young people who are part of our team have boundless energy and enthusiasm and a willingness to serve - they are fantastic role models to all the children who attend and we are blessed to have them.

Splash are now on a well deserved summer break until September- enjoy the holidays everyone...

Holiday Club Day 4 - The Splash Fire Brigade rescued a cat from a tree...

The children learned the story of the man who was lowered through the roof to see Jesus, with the help of some volunteers and our puppets! We played some games, made telephones and explained to the children what landlines were 😁

Our Big Question for the children was "How do we know we can trust in Jesus?" and this afternoon we played parachute games, non-stop cricket and created wind spinners.

One more day to go - what will we do next?

Holiday Club Day 3 - We heard about the good Samaritan with the help of the Splash Paramedic team!

Stories, songs, games and craft made for another great day - the children are so creative and full of energy 🙂

Holiday Club Day 2 - Where the Coastguard are called out and Jesus calms a storm!

We have had another great day today and are very thankful for the cooler weather. The children enjoyed hearing about Jesus calming the storm and how he can help us all to calm the storms that may occur in us. They made lighthouses, danced, sang and signed to a song about lighthouses, and made boats!

With our summer assemblies beginning to come to an end, here at Splash the work doesn't slow down! Our transition workshops for year 6's, called "It's Your Move" produced by Scripture Union, begin next week. With a good number of schools booked in, we're ready to roll. So with the workshops, and holiday club preparation, plus School Fairs and Flower Festivals, we're being kept busy and looking forward to a great summer.
