West Sussex Federation ran a lovely trip to Balcombe Place on Thursday, the home of Lady Denman. We had a tour around the whole house and lots of information on Lady Denman. Afterwards we had a picnic lunch in the victory hall at Balcombe which Lady Denman had built to commemorate the soldiers that lost their lives in the great war. A great day out. This is the second visit the federation have organised and their is still a waiting list so look out for the next one. Well worth a visit. Many thanks to West Sussex Federation for organising it.

Dear Seagals,

As there is no newsletter this month, here is just a quick update and a few reminders about our next meeting on Monday 7th September @2:15.

We have had to change the speaker as Hard Hats and High Heels cancelled due to some mandatory training. But worry not, we have managed to find, at short notice, Honey Weston who will be speaking about decluttering and introducing us to the Swedish Death Cleaning method!

Reminders:

Wear something purple to celebrate 111 years of the WI

Bring some extra cash to buy WI National Federation raffle tickets (along with our own raffle with some purple prizes this month!)

Bring along any contributions of toothpaste, toothbrushes – in packets, dental floss for our dental health bags for the homeless.

Have a good Bank Holiday weekend and see you on the 7th.

Best wishes
Stella

For the meeting 7th September 2026
There is a change in speaker…..

We will now have Honey Weston she will be speaking for 45-60 minutes on 'Clearing the Clutter', including introducing us to the concept of 'Swedish Death Cleaning'.

Also….a reminder…to celebrate 111 years of the W.I. UK….we’re having a purple theme……will you be wearing anything purple? Just for the fun of it.

Hopefully we can get lots of photos taken and get some published in the West Sussex W.I. Magazine to show how Worthing Seagals do things 😊

At our September meeting we will have purple as a theme…..because….

Women’s Institute UK 111 celebrate

For WI Day, the Women's Institute is celebrating the number 111 by inviting members to gather in groups of three (1 + 1 + 1 = 111) to pose for a photo representing friendship and strength.

Use the hashtag and email pictures to The WI Magazine.

WEAR PURPLE……..

whilst our September meeting happens a little earlier than the actual date of the 111th anniversary…..we can still, and will, celebrate…..

Will you be wearing purple….. a dress, blouse, skirt, hat, scarf or shoes…..?

Did you know…..?

Purple symbolizes royalty, wealth, luxury, wisdom, and spirituality.
Historically, it gained its regal meaning because the original dye was very rare and expensive.

They've been numbered so, pick your questions, with their number and email them to us, hopefully with a photo of yourself.
It's a bit of fun designed to help us get to know each other.

Our summer outing this year was a guided tour of The Royal Pavillion in Brighton. We had a great guide and learnt lots of interesting things about the Pavillion. Most notable of which was Queen Victoria stripping it bare when she sold it to Brighton Council! They have done a tremendous job over the years bringing it back to it's magnificent glory. Many thanks to the committee for organising it.
