The 1st of June marks the start of Pride Month!

Equality and love matter every day of the year, but Pride Month offers a special opportunity to celebrate the progress we've made and honour those who have campaigned for LGBT+ rights. As we celebrate, we also recognise that many in our community, especially trans and gender diverse people, continue to face significant challenges in the UK.

At the Centre Place, we've been providing an LGBT+ safe space for over 20 years. Through the LGBT+ Service Nottinghamshire, we continue to provide a safe space and support for LGBT+ young people in Bassetlaw and Nottinghamshire.

This Pride Month, we'll be running a number of Pride celebration activities in our weekly LGBT+ group sessions!

To attend our LGBT+ groups, or access our 1-1 support, complete a referral from our website, or contact us for more information.

The 17th May is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). This day marks the anniversary of the World Health Organization removing homosexuality from its classification of diseases in 1990.

For IDAHOBIT, our 11-16 and 16-25 groups this week have been learning all about LGBT+ activists from around the world. It was really interesting to learn about these pioneering and courageous people who have fought for equality and representation, often in countries with strict anti-LGBT+ laws.

Action for ALL of us.
We've come a long way and together we can make sure we don't risk going backwards on mental health.

We need policy makers to prioritise the nation's mental health and take action to address the root causes of mental ill health so that we can all stay well.
