Update... ⚠️

Hey folks.
So many of you may remember that last year we had ideas coming together for another BFC walk in 2024. Our charity walk was for the tow path of chesterfield canal, a distance of five miles with all funds raised going to the Canal and River Trust and Alzheimer's Society. This remains the planned walk and charities we would help.

However due to so much going on and time issues, we will unfortunately have to POSTPONE our charity walk until a future date. Initial ideas are possibly July 24.

A good charity walk also relies alot on participants and it would be nice to secure a good number of folks who would take on the challenge and walk five miles with no comfort of footwear. Some interest has been made known, and we thank those who would be willing to join. Perhaps we can call upon more who may be willing to help us raise money for good causes closer to the time.

Our walk and charities are all set and in place, it's just a case of making a good date to set the event. Please by all means keep in our Facebook group

⚠️ WE HAVE OUR CHARITIES!

So the BFC 2024 will be raising money for...
Alzheimer's Society and Canal and River trust. 👍

Our charity pot will be split in half between the two. The final totals after the walk can be easily donated via their websites. If you want to see what they are all about visit ...

Now we have our date, 📆 Sunday 5th may 2024, and our charities and our location set down the canal, we can begin to move things along. The thought at the moment is to maybe wait till close to or just after Christmas before getting sponsor forms ready. This leaves time to get the word out and for anyone who wishes to join us to learn about us and do so.

Our funds come from the walkers themselves who gather sponsors via their forms, but also other means. We run the BFC big raffle 🎟️ which has some pretty cool prizes that can be won. Each number is £1 which goes straight into the charity pot. Lucky winning numbers are drawn at the end. This will be next year also.

In the meantime, another idea is to do the BFC number draw. 🔢 This simple game involves people buying an amount of numbers, each £1. You can buy as many as you like, the more you buy the better your chances. 50p from every pound goes into the charity pot. The rest goes into the prize pot. A winning number is chosen at the end and the lucky winner gets the cash prize. So not only do you help charity, but there is an incentive with a prize to win.

We also have our BFC merch items 👕 which can be purchased. A pound from every purchase goes into the charity pot. We have coffee mugs, coasters, t-shirts etc. See our merch post for details.

If all this sounds ok, then we are good to go. If you have any other ideas then please share them.

Hey guys,

So thinking on who to raise money for, I was swinging for a 50/50 pot where half goes to one and half to another charity.

One of those charities is Canal and River trust. They work to protect the water ways of England and restore them and introduce wildlife, so since the walk is down the chesterfield canal, who better to help than those who upkeep the place.

Iv emailed them today and informed them of our intention. Canal and river trust are a registered charity organisation and LOVE volunteers who help fund raise for them. If you want to see more about them, visit

This leaves another spot to fill. Who can be our second charity? Ideas please. Thinking maybe something Alzheimer's related.

Exploring one of Britain's beautiful canals or rivers is the ideal way to get some fresh air, take some exercise and feel rejuvenated by nature.

🗓️ SUN 5TH MAY 2024 📆

This is our event date penciled in. It's a long way off yet but it will get there. This could be subject to change should circumstances arise beyond control which force us to change date. But for now, mark your calendars.

👕 For the moment, you can order BFC items. Each purchase donates £1 to the charity pot.

👣 We have had some good interest from folks willing to help and take part. As always, this is open to anyone. Either come along with our walk, or even do your own local to you.

📄 Sponsor forms for those who want to walk may be some weeks away yet, but once these are done they will be available to all. You can then gather what donations you can.

Once the ball gets rolling, donations can be gathered, we will begin to get our BIG RAFFLE underway and more details will be finalised.
Our walk this time will be five miles down chesterfield canal, from kiveton station to the lock keeper pub at Worksop.

Lots still to do but for now, our major decision is who to raise money for. And should we focus on more than one charity.

📢 WALK YOUR OWN BAREFOOT CHARITY WALK AND HELP RAISE MONEY FOR THE BFC POT. 🦶

If you would like to play your own part in helping us raise money for charity, why not do your own walk in a local place close to you. The BFC idea is one open to everyone, not just us.

If you think you can walk with no shoes or socks, then join us in our efforts and leave the comfort of footwear behind. All you need to do is pick a suitable place and set a distance (we are walking five miles). It could be anywhere, a local park, round a lake, even through a busy town or city. Ideally try to make it more than two miles. The more walkers that get active and involved, the more money we can raise.

All we ask is that you inform us of the location and the distance and how many of you there are. And follow the golden rule of course....NO SHOES OR SOCKS OR FOOTWEAR OF ANY KIND. 👟❌
We aim to hold our walk on sun 5th may 2024 (this could be subject to change) so we ask that anyone walking please do so the same day. When on that day is up to you.

If this sounds like something you could do and want to be involved in, please msg us or email us and we can add your walk event to our schedule. Gather some friends, ask your family, your work colleagues... Anyone who may wish to join you. We can send you a sponsor form for each walker via email or post. It isn't a hard thing to do, and speaking from past experience, it's rather enjoyable.

Hi all 😊

Greetings from BFC HQ. Yep, we are planning another walk event. And if anyone would like to walk along side us, your more than welcome to join the BFC team.

It's early days yet, but what we can say is this. Our distance will be five miles, and we aim to cover this down chesterfield canal from kiveton to Worksop. Some of you may remember that we walked this same route a number of years ago and it is a really enjoyable walk down a lovely part of the canal. We start at Kiveton station and follow the tow path all the way till we finish at the lock keeper pub. And yes, we will be frequenting this establishment for lunch and refreshments afterwards. 🍺 🍽️

We are putting the word out for anyone who may wish to come along and remove their shoes to raise money for charity. 🦶 Many turn their cheek when the mention of no shoes or socks comes up, but having done this path before and after two charity walks, we can safely say that it ISN'T as bad as you may think. It's not easy as you will feel the gravel, uneven path or the dirt underfoot. But the idea of the whole thing IS for it to be a challenge. Otherwise it's just too easy.

💰 We haven't decided yet on the charity we will walk for, this is still being thought upon. We may hold a poll to decide, but this will be informed later when we have decided.

📆 The exact date is also being decided for next year... Early thoughts were April. And it WILL be a Sunday! This will also be informed once sorted.

🎟️ As previously, there will be the BFC BIG RAFFLE which will be run throughout the donating time frame. We aim to secure a number of prizes for this, including possibly some vouchers, hampers and a top prize of a family day out to an attraction, maybe even two. Details of this will be posted once things get going.

🛍️ A new addition to BFC this time will be the purchasable items from our BFC charity merch. These are the following... T-shirts, polo shirts, hoodie, water bottle, mug and coaster. More may be added later on. Details of these and the prices will be up soon. All purchases donate £1 to the charity pot. And all can be delivered right to your door. Simply msg or comment us and let us know what you would like, and we will sort payment with you.

📄All walkers who take part will get a sponsor form which you can gather donations with. The more walkers we have, the more we can raise. Our target to start will be £500. We accept donations via PayPal, bank transfer, good old cash and online via our just giving page.

We haven't started donation collecting yet, and we will smooth over more details and decisions as time goes on. Once things kick off, we will post it all out there. If anyone wants to join us and walk for charity (it's not hard really at all 😁) and help raise money for charity then get in touch.
