🎨🖌🖍 Could your design become the face of your local hospitals’ charity? 🎨🖌🖍

We’re looking for a special mascot to help spread smiles, inspire fundraising, and represent the Charity at events across Worcestershire – and we need your creativity to bring the mascot to life!

We’re inviting children aged 7-13 from across Worcestershire to share their creative ideas and help create our brand-new mascot! We’d love to see a mascot that you think represents our local hospitals and helps to bring smiles to patients, visitors, and staff.

The winning design will become the official mascot of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity, helping to represent the charity across posters, flyers, social media and our website.

Even more excitingly, a life-size version of the mascot will be created, giving the winning designer the chance to meet their mascot face-to-face!

Simply download a copy of competition worksheet to draw your design (linked below!) before submitting your entry!

10 clinical hydraulic lift chairs have been installed across Worcestershire Royal Hospital ICU all thanks to your support, helping to support patients and their loved ones.

The chairs can make a significant difference to the rehabilitation of patients as they transition from intensive care to a ward-based environment for their next steps in recovery.

The specialist chairs allow patients more flexibility, rather than being confined to a bed-based environment the chairs also double as a trolley, so critically ill patients can seamlessly move between their ICU bed and the chairs.

🎃👻 This time last week Chris Lewis from Marsh Worcester office hosted spooky Halloween-themed quiz and raffle at Worcestershire County Cricket Club, to raise funds for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity’s specialist fund The Children of Worcestershire and Herefordshire Cancer Fund. 👻🎃

The event was inspired by Chris’s colleague Robbie Campbell, whose son was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2024.

Robbie and his family have experienced first-hand the difference the Children of Worcestershire and Herefordshire Cancer Fund makes to families going through such a difficult time. From helping with little things, like fresh fruit vouchers for the stall outside the hospital, to bigger moments, such as Christmas parties, the fund helps families create special memories and feel more comfortable during hospital stays. 💙

A huge thank you to Chris, Robbie and everyone came along and supported the event, helping to raise over £4,000! 🎉

Your generosity will help make a real difference to local families when they need it most. 💙

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome Jo Shepherd, CEO of Worcester Bosch, Nicola Lannie from Better Together and Hannah Sole to Worcestershire Royal Hospital to deliver beautiful Tropic skincare care bags to patients on our Rowan Suite, along with wellbeing treats for staff. 🎁

Around six months ago, Hannah, a Tropic skincare consultant, approached the charity with the idea of securing sponsorship from local businesses to fund Tropic care bags for cancer patients. Since then, Hannah has worked hard to bring this wonderful initiative to life, securing support from several local businesses including Worcester Bosch, Better Together , Foley Park Dental and Implant Centre and Allan Morris Worcester, with more donors also expressing interest in this meaningful project.

We were thrilled to see Worcestershire Cancer Care Bag Project come to life yesterday, with more than 30 care bags gifted to patients, alongside wellbeing treats for staff on Rowan Suite.

During their visit, Jo, Nicola and Hannah also received a tour of Rowan Suite and our Oncology inpatient wards, Laurel 2 and Laurel 3 from Laura, Matron for Haematology & Oncology, Sam, Nurse Consultant in Cancer Care and Lead SACT Nurse; and Lamisa, Staff Nurse. This gave them the opportunity to see first-hand the care provided by our teams and the difference these thoughtful gifts can to the patient experience 💙

A huge Thank you Worcester Bosch, Better Together , Foley Park Dental and Implant Centre and Allan Morris Worcester for supporting this fantastic initiative, and to Hannah Sole for coming up with such a thoughtful idea and making it happen.

Hannah hopes to expand the project over the coming months, reaching more cancer service wards across all three of our hospital sites: Worcestershire Royal Hospital, The Alexandra Hospital in Redditch, and Kidderminster Hospital and Treatment Centre. 💙

🎉 A huge congratulations and thank you to James! 🎉

James has raised over £800 so far by taking on the incredible challenge of walking 26 miles from his home in Worcester to Worcestershire Beacon and back again - all while pulling one of his yellow wheelie bins along with him! What an achievement! 💪💙

James took on this challenge in support of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity, raising money for our specialist fund, The Children of Worcestershire and Herefordshire Cancer Fund. Every pound raised will help make a meaningful difference, going beyond medical care to bring comfort, joy and cherished moments to children and their families when they need them most. 💙

There’s still time to support James and help him reach his £1,000 fundraising target! Every donation, big or small, can help bring comfort, care and unforgettable experiences to children undergoing cancer treatment and their families.

This October, the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Staff Networks are hosting Banned Books Week, which celebrates the freedom to read and share stories and we are delighted to have funded the purchasing of the books! 📚📖📚

Our Staff Networks have chosen books that have been banned or removed from some schools, libraries and public places. These books talk about important subjects such as race, gender, disability, faith, sexuality, women’s rights, inequality, mental health and fairness. They help us think about whose stories are heard, and whose are not and learn why the books were challenged or banned, and borrow copies to read.

The network are planning a virtual book club next month to get staff together to discuss the books they borrowed together, sharing their findings and discussing their thoughts. 🔖

Thanks to the support of our lottery members, caring volunteers are now providing bedside companionship to patients nearing the end of their lives at Alexandra Hospital.

The three specialist Peony Volunteers have been praised for the difference they are making, giving comfort and support to patients as well as practical and emotional support to their loved ones.

The volunteers have already visited more than 40 patients, providing almost 18 hours of bedside support, with hospital staff and families praising their kindness and compassion.

Thanks to the proceeds from our weekly lottery we have been delighted to fund the volunteering programme seeing more Peony Volunteers step out across Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust 💙
