We are so proude to have .tyler.art orcester arts colective and she will be showing her work as part of Worcester Open Studios later in the year in her words:-
I have been fortunate, throughout my career, to have worked in a wide range of media – drawing, painting, photography and sculpture. In 2021 I began experimenting with mixed media collage and this opened the door to an exhilarating way of working.
As a mixed media artist I create many layered collage and assemblage pieces. I am inspired by poetry, prose, conversations overheard and personal histories. Much of the work I create is influenced by my love of medieval, Renaissance & Indian art. The use of symbolism hidden within layers of imagery is an important element of each of the collages I make and I love to hear how different viewers respond with their own meaning.
Along with symbolism, the titles are intrinsic to each piece. The title is the begining of my process, once I am fixed on the title I source my materials, plan and create. This can take days, weeks or months and I often have a number of artworks at various stages of completion.
I use a variety of materials, in particular vintage & antiquarian photographs, prints, text & ephemera, to create rich and intricate pieces. Other materials I often use are gold leaf, copper foil, inks and found objects.
In recent months, on becoming a resident artist at Worcester Arts Collective, I have returned to the discipline that my creative journey, back in the 1980s, began with, that of oil painting. I’m not sure where this will lead but watch this space!
