Healthwatch Wolverhampton

Healthwatch Wolverhampton An independent voice for the people of Wolverhampton, helping to shape and improve local NHS and social care services. What is Healthwatch?

Healthwatch is an independent consumer champion created to gather and represent the views of the public. Healthwatch plays a role at both national and local level and makes sure that the views of the public and people who use services are taken into account. An Influencer - We listen to your views, concerns and suggestions about services and use this information to help shape and improve them. A Supporter - We can provide information to help you make choices about the services you use. Complaints Advocacy - We can refer you to someone who will support you in making a complaint. Healthwatch Wolverhampton promises to:

Seek out people to discuss their local health and social care services. Use what they say say to help decision makers improve the quality of local services

Reflect the diversity of Wolverhampton’s population, including children and young people

Build on any example of good work that is being achieved
Work in partnership with services – not in opposition. Be represented on the Health and Wellbeing Board and ensure progress is achieved. The Healthwatch network has been created in response to the Health and Social Care Act 2012. It is funded by the Department of Health via Wolverhampton City Council. Healthwatch Wolverhampton is one of 152 local Healthwatch, with Healthwatch England providing representation at a national level.

As of 31st October 2023, GP surgeries must give patients online access to their new health record entries 👨‍⚕️

A GP health record contains information about the care you have received from your GP surgery. It includes information on:

❤ Medicines your GP has prescribed
❤ Allergies you have
❤ Vaccinations you have received
❤ Conditions you have been diagnosed with
❤ Results of tests that your GP surgery has requested
❤ Notes from appointments
❤ Letters that hospitals and specialists have sent to your GP

You can request your records directly from your GP surgery. GP surgeries can also give you a printed copy of your health records if you need them 📝

Alongside the NHS App, you can access your GP record from other apps that allow access to medical information, such as Patients Know Best, Livi, DrIQ, or Evergreen.

There is no cost in accessing your GP records through the NHS App or NHS website, aside from using the internet.

The NHS will never charge you for downloading an app or using services within the NHS App 🆓

You will not be able to view your hospital and social care records online, as it is just GP health record information you will have access to 🏥

You can also only see records made from November 2022 onwards. You can however request access to historical information from your GP.

If you do not want to be able to access your record, you can speak to your GP surgery who can remove your online access 🙅‍♂️

A GP will review any results from a test before uploading them to your health record. If the results are sensitive or potentially upsetting, they should try to speak to you before uploading them to your record ❤️

📢 Report highlights progress and opportunities to further improve Adult Social Care in Wolverhampton

Our latest report shares what local people told us about their experiences of Adult Social Care services. While many residents praised the support they received, some highlighted challenges around communication, finding information and understanding what support was available.

We're pleased to see that since the research was carried out, City of Wolverhampton Council has introduced a range of improvements, including strengthening frontline services, enhancing support for carers, improving online information and developing Integrated Neighbourhood Teams.

Every Monday night, there’s an empty chair.

It doesn’t have a name on it.

It doesn’t matter who you are, what you do, where you’re from, or what brought you to the door.

If you're a man aged 18 and over, that chair is yours.

It’s there for the man who has been saying, "I just need to get things off my chest".

For the man sitting in his car trying to find the courage to walk in.

For the man who thinks his problems aren’t serious enough.

For the man who thinks nobody will understand.

For the man who has spent years answering "I'm fine" when he isn’t.

There will ALWAYS be an empty chair at Andys Man Club Wolverhampton

It's an invitation.

A place where you can sit down, talk if you want to, listen if you don’t, and realise you’re not the only man carrying something heavy.

But there’s another kind of empty chair.

One at a family dinner.

One beside a partner.

One in a workplace.

One in the pub.

One at the football.

One that belonged to a Dad, a son, a brother, a husband, a partner, a colleague, a best mate.

A chair that is empty because the man who should be sitting in it is no longer here.

There are already far too many of those empty chairs.

So come along, take a chair.

Before the weight becomes unbearable.

Before "maybe I'll go next week" becomes a Monday that never comes.

Walk through the door.

Sit in the empty chair.

Let us listen.

Because the only empty chairs we want to see are the ones waiting for the men that walk through our door.

No need to register, just turn up. No pressure to talk; you can listen until you're ready. No charges for the group, brews, or biscuits.

We're here for you. Get to our door, and we'll welcome you and get you a brew and biscuits.

There’s always a chair for you.

There should never have to be an empty one because of you.
