What a wonderful Learning Disability Awareness Week we've had at CLASP this week, and this afternoon the fun continued with a picnic at Oakfield Court, Barkham Road (with thanks to Optalis (adult social care and support services) for allowing us to hold today's event, and regular Gardening Club here).

We were thoroughly entertained by the fabulous Phoenix Ukeleke Band, who certainly matched our CLASP energy with their off the scale joy-ometer performance!

What an amazing surprise at the end of the show, when after we gave them a traditional handmade CLASP thank you card, they went on to gift us with a cheque for an awesome Β£250, we are so grateful. Thank you so very much, we really do appreciate your incredible kindness.

Last but not least Pete and the team officially opened the new sensory garden, a real community effort with help and donations of plants and much more. We're super proud of what CLASP and friends have achieved, just lovely. A special thank you to Pete, wife Sal and helper Brian, your continued support is very much appreciated.

Learning Disability Awareness Week done in true CLASP style, we have been seen, heard, valued and some, great job Team CLASP!

What a fantastic Gardening Club today, before the official opening of our sensory garden tomorrow afternoon.

A big thank you to Ian, Michael, Dean, Vincent (and Shane), Thomas, Nikk and James (and support worker) for their final push to get things done today.

Great job by Support Worker Shane, who oversaw Thomas and Vincent painting the back fence, it looks fab!

Michael got on with weeding the pond area on his own and has done a great job.

The area was tidied so the strimmer could come out, with great work on this by James, Thomas and Nikk.

Brian our fabulous fix-it man along with his right-hand Ian, cut back the trees over the new garden then mended the two chairs and table, great wood working skills guys!

Nikk and Dean were our principal cleaners, cleaning five tables and chairs ready for use at the opening tomorrow, wow they look like new!!

There was of course the mandatory watering given the hot weather keeping everything alive in both the polytunnel and new garden.

The ribbon decorations made by Craft Club were then hung and look so cool and colourful.

We can't wait to see it in all it's glory tomorrow at the bring your own picnic, opening of the sensory garden and entertainment by Phoenix Ukeleke Band, 1pm-3pm at Oakfield Court, Barkham Road. We hope to see you there!

How lovely, as a CLASP member, we're super fond of Joe too.

He is so proud of the volunteering he does with the children and gardening club at Evendons Primary School and rightly so.

Happy birthday Joe from everyone at CLASP too!

πŸŽ‰ Happy 82nd Birthday to our wonderful volunteer, Joe! πŸŽ‚πŸŽˆ
Today we celebrated a very special milestone for Joe, who brings so much joy to our school community. Joe volunteers with Evendons twice a week, helping out at our Gardening Club and during social time. True to form, he spent his birthday today busy supporting our Year 6s with their go-kart building! πŸ› οΈπŸŽοΈ
We also want to say a huge thank you to our very lovely school chefs. Joe always enjoys a school dinner when he's in and never misses a chance to praise them for their tasty food, so they kindly whipped up a delicious birthday cake just for him! We were all so touched by your kindness. 🍰❀️
Happy Birthday, Joe! We hope you had a lovely time celebrating with usβ€”thank you for everything you do! ✨
