A great session at Take Notice today with Joseph, Rebecca, Daisy and Glenn from Wokingham Borough Council discussing the local Physical Activity Strategy.

With the health inequalities experienced by those with a learning disability, opportunities and access to exercise is so important, as was this chance to get our voices heard.

Please note there is NO Take Notice next week due to the planned trip to Hall Hunter Partnership.

A longer than usual (so much to do!) Gardening Club session today, but an amazing amount achieved thanks to the hard work of the team, led by the fabulous Pete. .

Helper Brian made another raised bed for the tomatoes which is now positioned in the polytunnel, hopefully the wonderful but wild growth we had last year can be better controlled this year.

The main purpose today was to put in the huge numbers of plants which have been kindly donated. We put in over 40 plants, a mammoth task but the transformation in the garden is just outstanding. A big thank you to Wokingham in Bloom, plus local residents Corinna, Katarzyna, Jane and Jan for their kind and generous plant donations.

The solar light kindly donated by Becky was attached to the end fence post.

Both new raised beds were filled with compost and soil, a big thank you to Louise and the team from Tesco, Wokingham for the kind donation of more compost too!

The group went on to construct a bamboo cage around the strawberries and cover with netting to stop the pigeons from eating all the lovely fruit growing there.

A big thank you to our dedicated waterers, Sally, Ian and Michael, with extra visits outside of Gardening Club to keep all the plants hydrated, absolutely vital this week plus to our kind donation of drinks from an Oakfield Court resident and baked goods from Ian, perfect to keep everyone going!

Gardening Club runs every Thursday from 2pm-4pm at Oakfield Court, Barkham Road. All welcome. £2 to attend. The more, the merrier, please do pop down and join us, you would be made to feel very welcome, fresh air, exercise, productive work, produce, and friendship, what's not to like!

A great EXTRA Gardening Club session today.

The team used an amazing 25 bags of top soil in both the new outside raised bed and in the new sensory garden to level things out, all kindly donated by our friends at Gorse Ride Schools, with special thanks to caretaker, Ryan.

The first strawberries of the year were picked, they are looking and tasting great!

Small covers were made from cardboard to make sure the strawberries are at their best and kept off the soil.

The new outside planter was filled, using the soil and compost kindly gifted by re3 Recycling and collected by the fabulous Pete. Thank you to both.

The areas around all the outside planters was weeded and cut, and all looks so smart now.

The outside planters were watered, again, so important with the recent weather.

Dwarf beans, grown from seed, were planted out and placed around canes. We looked forward to enjoying these soon.

Well done and thank you to Michael and Ian who continue to go above and beyond (alongside Pete) and who have repeatedly been to the site to water everything, keeping everything alive and thriving in these hot temperatures.

Gardening Club are working hard to get the garden ready for the official unveiling of the sensory garden area on Friday 19th June (more about this in your June Notices, out shortly) all hands on deck, please come down and join us if you can, we'd love to see you there.

The next Gardening Club is tomorrow, Thursday, at Oakfield Court, Barkham Road from 2pm-4pm. All welcome. £2 to attend.
