We’re delighted to support The Wokingham Volunteer Centre's Green ‘n’ Tidy project through our Thrive grant funding. 💚 🌿

The project provides basic gardening support for older and disabled residents who are unable to maintain their gardens and cannot afford commercial services.

The funding will help the project expand, supporting the recruitment and training of additional volunteers, enabling the team to reach more vulnerable residents across the borough.

The benefits go beyond keeping gardens tidy, with volunteers providing a friendly face and valuable connections for residents who may rarely see anyone else. They can also notice when someone may need extra support, helping to improve wellbeing and ensuring local resources go further. 🌱

We’re proud to support this fantastic example of local volunteers making a real difference in the community. 🌱

MORE borough gardens will be green and tidy thanks to a grant awarded to the Wokingham Volunteer Centre.Wokingham United Charities’

✨ We are absolutely delighted to have awarded Nail It DIY a Thrive Grant! 🔨🔧🏠

Launched in February 2026, Nail It DIY is a community-focused organisation that delivers practical, hands-on DIY workshops for women and girls.

From learning how to use a drill and repairing plasterboard to fixing a leaking tap, replacing a damaged light switch and understanding basic electrical safety, the workshops equip women with the knowledge to safely tackle everyday household repairs.

The Thrive Grant will help Nail It DIY deliver these workshops, with priority given to women referred through local charities and community organisations across the Wokingham Borough. By building confidence, independence and practical life skills, the project will empower women to feel more confident in their own homes while helping to prevent small household issues from becoming larger, more costly problems.

📖 Read the article to find out more about this inspiring organisation and the difference it is making.

What a fantastic initiative—we can't wait to see the positive impact it has across our community! 💪✨

Yesterday, we were delighted to bring together our wonderful Westende residents, staff and Trustees – including our Chair of the Board, Jane Hartley – for our annual Summer Party.

Despite the sweltering temperatures, everyone enjoyed a lovely afternoon of sandwiches, scones with jam and cream, cakes and plenty of conversation. A special thank you to our former Chair, Mark Hall, who kindly brought along a variety of fresh summer fruits for everyone to enjoy. 🍓🍇

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such an enjoyable afternoon. It was lovely to spend time together and celebrate our Westende community. 🌞💛🌞💛
