Announcing our two FREE Twilight Primary Teacher training session - Dance in Primary Schools!

The new National Curriculum guidance for 2027 - 2028 will be bringing dance and the arts front and centre. Ensure your school is ready for the changes and your teachers feel confident in using movement and dance in school.

These FREE taster workshops will give you easy to implement ideas for bringing movement into everyday learning in a cross-curricular way.

This introductory twilight will touch on:
• dance for cross curricular learning
• dance in the PE curriculum
• dance and movement for wellbeing
• movement as classroom management,
• games and activities for developing social skills,

Schools week - day four!

In May, Theatre Porto and Cheshire Dance collaborated with Performing Arts students from Cheshire South and West College to create a theatre and movement show for primary school aged audiences called ‘The Gallery.’

This show was devised from the ideas of primary school students in Ellesmere Port. Set in an art gallery, the show reflected that what the primary school students are grateful for in life.

Following a collaborative devising process, the company then performed the interactive show to four different groups of primary school students!

Seeing young people develop their skills in the arts while shaping the production with their own ideas and collaborating with our professional artists was a reminder of why creative opportunities matter so much as part of the curriculum.

A huge thank you to everyone involved🩵

On the second day of our Schools Week, we’re looking back at our REWIND project, presented as part of our NEXUS programme!

This year, in a collaboration between Cheshire Dance Theatre in the Quarter, 180 young people from 6 schools across Blacon took to the stage at Chester Town Hall as our REWIND project celebrated its 10th anniversary with its most ambitious production yet titled ‘An Epic Adventure’.

Seeing young people develop their skills in the arts while shaping the production with their own ideas and collaborating with our professional artists was a reminder of why creative opportunities matter so much as part of the curriculum.

A huge thank you to everyone involved🩵

PERFORMANCE ALERT!

Join us at Theatre Porto next Monday for 'The Gallery' - a collaboration between Theatre Porto, Cheshire Dance and local primary school children.

You are invited to join us on a guided tour around the art gallery, where ancient statues reveal hidden stories and nothing is quite what it seems.

Performing arts students from Cheshire College South and West and their new company ‘One Handed Catch’ create an enchanting piece of physical theatre that inspires gratitude for the things we so often take for granted.

Tickets are Pay What You Like – this means all are welcome to watch the performance and you do not have to pay for a ticket. If you CAN make a contribution, this will ensure we are able to keep our performances and activities free and low cost to those who most need it.

Book here: https://www.ticketsource.com/booking/select/vmrwbmgkjjyo

This collaboration project is presented as part of Cheshire Dance's NEXUS Programme, proudly funded by The Westminster Foundation. Find out more here: https://nexusdance.uk
