With Frankie coming in and testing positive for FIV, you may think, thats OK you have an ‘FIV wing’ he will be OK in there.

Truth is thats already full, as its only a small catio, with 3 FIV boys already.

2 can be rehomed , the third? He doesnt know how to use a litter tray 😢 ( he has never had to 🤷🏻‍♀️)

So let me reintroduce the FIV boys.

Rocky

A black panther. Roughly 2.5-3 years old now. A dominant boy with other but friendly with humas.

He has been with us about a year. He has come on a long way since then. Now looking for strokes instead of swiping first.

Buddy

Buddy is an older boy at approximately 6-7 years old. He has been battered before he came in. He has been with us about 2 years. During that time he has been a pleasure, likes a fuss but doesnt mither. Like alot of FIV boys he can get a bit snotty and crusty eyes, but he does clean himself up. He is a little sweetheart.

Today Frankie tested positive for FIV 😢

Frankie has been let down for years by people. He was once owned. But they didnt neuter him so his hormones told him to go spread his seed. He wandered. He fought for territory. He got bit and scratched and got hurt. He caught FIV. Now under normal circumstances FIV wont cause an issue. But thats if they are tucked up in a safe warm space away from other cats who can pass on diseases and infections. You see FIV affects the immune system so it makes it harder for them to fight off infections. Hence we keep them safe indoors.

So Frankie has spent numerous years on the streets fighting for territory and food. He has spent alot of that time injured and hurt. People have tried to trap him. But they havent been patient enough. He has spent years slowly healing from injury after injury. He has slowed as he has got older , each year it getting harder and harder to heal as his body has more and more to deal with.

At the weekend Rach and her son went to see him at a feeders. They had no intention of getting him , but had a carrier in the car out of habit. He was there, Rach and her son looked at each other, and unspoken ’shall we try?’ between them.

They did.

They got him. ( not without injury to themselves)

Today he went to the vets for a good check over. They have done full bloods to check all his organs. They have neutered him. The FIV/ FELV checked him. It came back positive for FIV. We await the other results before a plan can be made . We do know he needs a dental.

But thats not the end of it. You have an un neutered female thats had kittens with Frankie? She could be FIV. It is common for male cats to bite the necks of females to keep them still whilst they do their thing.

We know lots of people love Frankie, he had lots of feeders who looked out for him and reported he was looking poorly.

Can those who looked out for him look out one more time and donate towards his vet bill? ( currently around the £500 mark with another £400 on a dental in the near future)

For now Frankie is safe, warm fed and cosy ( not necessarily happy but that will come)

We have everything crossed his bloods don’t show anything untoward🤞🏼

Hi its me again, Valerie. FM has said Im getting so
Much better and must just be a slow burner. Well I have had alot to contend with! She even caught me attempting to play the other day but I quickly realised she was watching and stopped.

She says its a shame I am black and white as that can be the hardest colour to rehome and there have been lots of black and whites in lately. But its not like I can help that is it? So I try to be extra chatty to get myself noticed. 😊

So I Am putting myself out there, I mean its OK here at foster mums but she can be loud 🤣 , I think I need a a sensible home, doesn’t have to be too quiet but not a mad house ( like this one 😳) , I don’t like dogs and like a lot of attention, Im about 10 months old according to the vet man so I’m still a baby really.

If you think we could be friends contact Pat Norris for a homecheck, then there is a donation fee but I think Im worth it!
