Rotary Club of Windsor St George

Rotary Club of Windsor St George We’re a friendly and welcoming club based in the Windsor area (UK) since 1982. We are all at different stages of our lives. Are you? We're for communities.

Rotary clubs are based within local communities, with their members meeting on a regular basis to enjoy friendship, networking, and to plan projects that will benefit the lives of others. We embrace diversity and come from different professional and cultural backgrounds. But we have something in common: we give our time and share our skills to make our community a better place to live in. Rotary c

lubs are open to men and women of all ages who are business, professional or community leaders and who want to use their experience for the benefit of others. Every Tuesday we meet for dinner and our meetings vary each week. Sometimes we have an engaging speaker. Sometimes we hear about the good work our members have been up to. Sometimes we have a quiz, we play wii, we enjoy a casino night, or other fun activities. But we're always welcoming and ready for a bit of banter and a laugh. As a service club, we're busy throughout the year working in and for our community. We offer free blood pressure checks in April. You will also see us in local events such as the Windsor Horse Show, the Christmas lights switch on and the Reindeer Parade. As we're self-funded, we also work hard organising fund-raisers and taking on sponsored challenges. www.windsorstgeorgerotary.org.uk

On 24th March, our own club member Lexy gave an interesting and informative talk on the rapidly growing phenomenon known as Artificial Intelligence (AI). Despite being a major part of her day job, Lexy gave her talk in a language we could all understand.

Club members and friends were privileged to have been given a private tour of the very impressive Alexander Devine Children's Hospice in Maidenhead on 10th March. The hospice provides a very necessary and invaluable service to children and their families going through serious medical issues.

We had a wonderful meeting this week with our guest speaker Andrew Douglass, Founder & CEO of Parallel Windsor. Andrew spoke passionately about the mission behind Parallel Lifestyle, highlighting the exciting growth of the festival, its increasing community impact, and the much appreciated role of our partnership in supporting the event. He also shared updates on what to expect at this year’s edition.
We were equally delighted to welcome guests from the Rotary Club of Burnham Beeches: President Gareth Hopkins, Keith Greenough, Jenny Tsang, and Nick Teale and it was a pleasure to strengthen the connection between our clubs.

Got some textiles or soft toys that need repairing? That electrical gadget or light has stopped working or needs testing. That small piece of furniture could do with fixing. What's wrong with my machine? Good news, the Windsor Repair Cafe can have a look for you on Saturday 21st February between 10am and 2pm. Everything and anything considered. https://www.windsorrepaircafe.org.uk/booking-form/

This month we celebrate the 9th Anniversary of the Windsor Community Defibrillator Partnership. In 9 years we have gone from zero to 30 defibrillators in and around Windsor. The partnership comprises Windsor St. George, Windsor Lions, Thames Valley Police and the Windsor and Eton Town Partnership. We believe one of our defibrillators saved a life last week.

A wonderful evening at our Rotary Club!

We had the pleasure of enjoying an excellent presentation from our guest speaker, Ceri Davies. Ceri shared her fascinating career journey across aviation, travel, and hospitality, a story full of passion, resilience, and incredible experiences.

Thank you, Ceri, for inspiring us and reminding us how far curiosity and dedication can take us!

At our last meeting, we had an inspiring presentation from Tanya and Dima on meaningful ways to support Ukraine and other initiatives, highlighting the key areas in need.
Our Rotarian Lexy also introduced a new tool designed to help the club gather, develop and prioritize valuable ideas moving forward.

Meetings like this remind us of the impact we can make when we come together with purpose and compassion.
