Good drinks, great company, and the best of the Scottish Art Department! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🎬✨

Last week, our Glasgow members caught up at The State Bar for a relaxed evening of informal networking, chat and connecting with friends old and new.

There are more regional events planned later in the year so make sure you're following us so you don't miss the next BFDG meet-up in your area.

In our latest episode of Work in Progress, we continue celebrating our 15th Production Design Award winners by stepping into the fast-paced, high-pressure world of commercial design.

PD Will Htay, winner of our award for Best Production Design - Commercial, chats with Jonathan Paul Green about the mind-bending challenges, tight deadlines, and creative triumphs behind his spectacular Schweppes "Take Your Time" commercial.

From Mars interiors to Mission Control, the project split the pipeline across physical and digital worlds, using tools like NOOR to pre-visualise builds, integrate stunts, and align teams before construction even began.

Starting out can be expensive and we don't want cost to hold you back from opportunities which is why we have a BFDG bursary fund for members.

What is it for?

The BFDG Bursary Fund is a small pot of money which is raised on an annual basis to help BFDG members who might need help with with transport or accommodation costs to allow them to: attend a networking or training event, attend a job interview, get to a work experience placement, commute to a new job before receiving your first pay check.

Who can apply?
The fund is mainly raised to help those members who are just starting out in the industry establish themselves, but it is open to any members who might need it.

How do I apply?

Members should send an email to [email protected] and also copy in [email protected] with 'BFDG Bursary Application' as the subject giving full details of what you would like financial help with. We will assess your situation and get back to you. All applications are confidential.

How much can I apply for?

Each application is assessed individually there is no set amount, it depends on the available funds. Think in terms of the cost of a train ticket and overnight accommodation.

If you are unsure about applying please contact us.

For our latest 'Spotlight On' we are shining the light on CAMA AssetStore who recently received the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainability!

This incredible recognition celebrates CAMA’s commitment to driving the circular economy forward in film & TV through smarter, more sustainable asset reuse.

For years, CAMA has worked alongside designers and art departments across the industry, helping productions manage wrap processes more sustainably through their AssetCycle reuse programme — reducing waste, preserving creative work, and supporting responsible reuse.

Their commitment to sustainable production has also supported BFDG Planet Positive Award-winning productions, most recently Down Cemetery Road.

A huge thank you from CAMA to the BFDG community — to the designers and art departments who trust them with their sets and props every day.

This achievement shows what’s possible when sustainability, innovation, and creativity come together to shape a greener future for our industry.

Find out more about CAMA AssetStore on their website: cama.co.uk and follow them on Instagram & LinkedIn.
