Below is a brief overview of what ‘The Know How’ is all about, where it came from etc.
Having a vast knowledge of Mental Health services both personally and professionally, Murphy became distraught at the lack of facility that’s available for the majority of people that are referred into Mental Health services. He began to filter down the main issues and came to the conclusion that;
All Major Mental Health issues begin with something much smaller which then acts as a foundation to be built upon.
There is only help available when you reach crisis point.
Sometimes crisis point can be too late.
The point is simple. By allowing a person to share a problem and find a solution to said problem, whilst in it’s infancy, we stop it in it’s tracks before it becomes a mental health issue.
What?
By promoting and networking with all local services, organisations and charities, we equip the best skilled people for any given situation and can therefore pass that help on to you by way of signposting. However, unlike most Signposting Organisations, we don’t just refer you.
We will attend appointments with you (should you wish) and stick with you for a as long or as little as you deem necessary. We can also act as your Advocate for cases where you may feel out of your depth.
Who?
We currently have two members of staff.
Murphy James (Manager) and Nick Roberts (Assistant Manager) have a great knowledge of dealing with vulnerable people between them.
Working as Manager of Windsor Homeless Project for the past 2 years, having previously worked in Treatment Services (Drug & Alcohol) and suffering from addiction himself, Murphy knows only too well, the pit falls that Mental Health that bring to a persons life. Murphy says;
Nick Roberts also has a history of addiction. Having attended rehab and battled his way into recovery, Nick began to work at the Windsor Homeless Project as a volunteer, where he very soon became an asset to the team. Nick then went on to volunteer for both the Tree-house Café and Windsor Baptist Church. When Murphy came up with the concept of the Know How, Nick was of course, his right-hand man. Nick says;
Where?
Organisationally we are based at Windsor Baptist Church but are very much based in the community. We understand that attending appointments in unknown surroundings can increase anxieties, stresses and worries and will therefore work, wherever our clients feel most comfortable.
We cover the whole of Berkshire and surrounding areas.
