Happy Friday to you All - A big thank you to the team at International Hotels Group (IHG) who gave the Alma Beacon a deep clean yesterday. The Green Oak pub in Fifield provided us with another outstanding lunch and the Swan at Clewer dropped off some beautiful homemade cakes for desert - we are so grateful to you all. Finally a big shout out to Big Yellow Self Storage for providing us with storage facilities: very generous and we really appreciate it - Thank you.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Happy Friday! We had some delicious cake donated to us from Flower Land in Bournend and flaky pastries from Heidi's patisserie -Thank you to you both our guests appreciate these decadent treats. Lunch was provided by the Greene Oak; a delicious pork stew and trifle from Kay – thanks so much we couldn’t provide such quality food without your support. To top the week RBWM libraries have donated several workstations so our guests can look for jobs, create CVs and independently manage their life admin. Thanks to Kevin one of our volunteers who kindly set this all up for us. Amazing! Thank you All, and have a great weekend.

It has been an incredible few weeks at the WHP for both our team and our guests. We have many thanks to give to our incredible volunteers, our corporate volunteers and our community at large all of whom provide us with essential support. We welcomed teams from IHG Hotels & Resorts, De Vere Beaumont Estate, Centrica and for the first time Aramark and the professional chefs from Combermere & Victoria Barracks.
It was also wonderful to welcome the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire and his family and Cllr Mandy Brar the new Mayor of Windsor & Maidenhead. We thank them for their support and interest in WHP. We are always looking for passionate people to join us. Whether you want to bring your whole office for a team building volunteer day or share your own skills, please get in touch.

It is with great sadness that we say farewell to Sheenagh, our wonderful resident podiatrist. Sheenagh has been selfless in her dedication to caring for our guests' feet, and we cannot thank her enough. We wish her all the joy in the world as she looks forward to a well-deserved retirement on the golf course!
April will be stepping into Sheenagh's shoes (quite literally! 🦶), and what an impressive start she made today. A huge thank you, April.
We also want to extend a very warm welcome to our newest volunteer, Steph, who ran her very first hair-cutting session today. We are truly lucky and grateful to every one of our volunteers who give their time and talent to support WHP.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend

Alma Beacon Trustee opportunity

Board Trustee opportunity

We are Alma Beacon, a forward-thinking charity empowering disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Windsor area to achieve better goals and outcomes. Three Projects sit within our Charity: - WindsorHomeless Project, Windsor Street Angels, and Windsor Foodshare. Currently, we are made up of 9 Trustees, 6 employees and over 200 volunteers. Our Charity’s purpose is to make an impact that matters for our “clients” who are often the most vulnerable people in society. People are at the heart of what we do.

Our constitution allows us to have a maximum number of 11 Trustees. Two of our Trustees retired at out last AGM and vacancies have arisen. As we continue to grow, we are seeking 2 further dedicated individuals to join our Board of Trustees. Our current Trustees have expertise in Corporate, Finance, Marketing, IT, Legal, Counselling and HR and our governance is therefore well managed. However, as Trustees retire by rotation, we are looking for the opportunity to strengthen and enhance the Board.
The Opportunity and Role Overview:
This exciting opportunity to support the charity as a Trustee will require an individual or individuals who ideally fit the following criteria.
- -You will have expertise and experience in similar roles, ideally in the charity or public service sector, for example in legal and regulatory governance and compliance.
- You will have the skills and strategic thinking required to scrutinise, strengthen, develop and communicate the Charity’s policies and processes.
-You will have an important contribution to make to the work of the charity, working collaboratively with other Trustees and our Management Team, to foster the positive working environment that aligns with our values and mission.
- You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- As part of our local community, you will become involved in the heart of what we do as a charity, and you will understand the breadth and depth of the support we provide to our “clients”.
The Requirements:
This voluntary role, reporting to the Trustee Board Chair, requires approximately 20 hours per month, and these hours are generally flexible. You may be given a specific role on the Board, based on your own experience and expertise. Attendance at Alma Beacon (73a Alma Road, Windsor) for quarterly Board meetings and the AGM is required. Trustees are also encouraged to spend time engaging at Project level, supporting fundraising events and volunteer gatherings etc
Application Process: Interested candidates should submit a CV and a cover letter outlining their relevant experience and motivation for applying to [email protected]. Applications will be accepted until Friday 24th April 2026Alma Beacon is the operating name for Windsor Christian Action - Charity no. 11543080
