✨From inspiration to impact ✨

I was honoured to have spent time at the Protez Foundation alongside Milly Dingwall, who is volunteering there as part of her journey to becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Milly’s inspiration comes in no small part from Polo for Heroes and the many injured members of the Armed Forces she has met over the years. The resilience, determination and courage shown by this community continues to inspire the next generation to give back in meaningful ways.

It was incredibly humbling to witness such life-changing work first-hand, and a privilege to play even a small part in these journeys.

Keep up the amazing work Milly 👏🏻 💪🏻 🇬🇧 🇺🇸

Some of the most powerful moments behind Polo for Heroes are the people and stories that shape what we do.

Clare was first introduced to a Captain in the Irish Guards at our very first event. That meeting would go on to have a lasting impact, not just on her, but on the journey of this charity as a whole.

In 2012, as we launched our very first Heroes for Freedom R&R trip to Las Vegas, he became instrumental in helping us get it right. Through him, we were introduced to a group of incredible individuals, many of them seriously injured, including amputees, who would go on to take part in that life changing experience.

At the time, this was all new territory for us. His advice, guidance and understanding were invaluable, helping us shape a trip that wasn’t just about getting away, but about real support, connection and rebuilding confidence.

Heroes for Freedom has since become a cornerstone of what we do. These trips are designed to give our wounded, injured and sick service personnel a chance to step away from the daily challenges they face, to reconnect with themselves and others who truly understand their journey. It is about creating moments of freedom, laughter and strength, often at a time when it is needed most.

None of this would be possible without the continued support of everyone who stands behind Polo for Heroes. Every ticket, every donation, every shared story helps us continue to deliver these life changing experiences.

We are proud to support those who have given so much, and even prouder to stand alongside them.

The Chirawa Trophy

The trophy that will be presented at the Polo for Heroes charity match carries a story that is very close to our hearts.

During our trek through Rajasthan in 2017, we stopped overnight in a small place called Chirawa. The next morning, as we were finishing breakfast and preparing our Marwari ponies for the next leg of the journey, a young girl appeared from seemingly the middle of nowhere carrying a small bag of magnolia flowers.

Whilst giving each of us a flower, she was curious about who we were and, like most people, completely fascinated by the horses. Through our guide and interpreter we learned that she was an excellent student at school and that her dream was to become a doctor.

Just as quickly as she had appeared, she disappeared again, only to return moments later carrying a small trophy. Slightly battered and a little disjointed, it was a prize she had won for excellence in her studies at school. Despite it clearly being something she treasured, she was absolutely insistent that we take it back with us to the UK.

We hesitated at first. It felt wrong to accept what was likely her most prized possession. But it quickly became clear that the best thing we could do was honour her generosity by giving it a new purpose.

And so her trophy became The Chirawa Trophy, the perpetual trophy for Polo for Heroes.
The meaning and sentiment behind it is so special to us that we had a protective case made to preserve it, ensuring that despite its fragility, it can continue to inspire others for many years to come.

A small trophy, given with extraordinary generosity, now helping to support an extraordinary cause.

Clifford O’Farrell – Player Introduction

At Polo for Heroes 2026, we are proud to be fundraising for the Household Cavalry Foundation, the official charity of the The Household Cavalry.

Among the players taking to the field is Cliff O'Farrell, whose journey reflects why this work matters.

After being seriously injured in Afghanistan and facing the possibility of losing his legs, the road ahead was uncertain and painful. During this difficult period, the Household Cavalry Foundation stepped in with immediate and effective support, helping to make recovery possible.

Through the Battle Back programme, Clifford was introduced to polo. What began as a lesson quickly became part of his rehabilitation. Being back in the saddle improved his walking, reduced pain and restored confidence. Polo became more than a sport, it became a vital part of his recovery.

The work of the Household Cavalry Foundation, supported through events such as Polo for Heroes, goes far beyond what is visible at fundraising occasions. It positively impacts injured soldiers, their families and the wider polo community by promoting inclusive competition for all abilities and championing equine therapy that has benefits recognised worldwide.

This is why we raise funds.
This is why Polo for Heroes matters.

Proud to introduce one of our charity partners for Polo for Heroes 2026 🐎 🇬🇧

Established in 2013, the Household Cavalry Foundation supports serving soldiers, operational casualties, veterans and their dependants. It also preserves the heritage of The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals and safeguards the welfare of retired horses. The same soldiers seen on ceremonial duties are those who serve on the front line, and as operations overseas conclude, the long term effects of both physical and psychological injuries remain very real.

We are honoured to stand alongside them.
