Well, what can we say… this weekend has been brilliant...
West Cumbria Search and Rescue team have had a busy but fantastic weekend, attending two great events providing medical cover.

It’s always a privilege for our team to support local events and be there to provide medical assistance whenever it’s needed.

🚨 Silloth Emergency Service Day 🚨
On Saturday, West Cumbria Search and Rescue were delighted to attend Silloth Emergency Service Day. 🧡

It was lovely to see so many children (and grown-ups too!) getting involved, having a go with the equipment, trying on uniforms and learning more about the amazing emergency services in our community. 🚑👩‍🚒👮‍♀️
We were joined by an incredible range of local emergency and rescue organisations:

🚑 North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust
🚤 Silloth RNLI Lifeboat
🚤 Workington Lifeboat

It was fantastic to come together, showcase what we do and help our local community learn more about the vital work carried out by emergency services and volunteers across Cumbria. 💙

And, of course, a huge thank you to all the families who came along, joined in and made it such a fun and memorable day!

On Wednesday evening, our training session took us to the stunning Muncaster Castle, where we had the chance to check out the Race the Tide 2026 course. 🏰

Well, our very own John Moore went and absolutely smashed it at Race the Tide 2026! 💪🔥

John completed the race in an incredible 01:50:27, all while wearing Water Kit! 🌊🏃‍♂️

That is one seriously impressive effort, John! 👏

All of us at West Cumbria Search and Rescue would like to wish our Second-in-Command and Water Team Leader, John Moore, the very best of luck as he takes on this year's Race the Tide at Muncaster Castle in Full Water Kit! 🌊🏃‍♂️

John is taking on this fantastic challenge with his usual determination, and we're all behind him every step of the way.

🚨 Help Us Stay Safe While Helping Others 🚨
Our volunteer Search & Rescue team is raising £1,200 to purchase new high-visibility task vests for all of our team members.
These vests are an essential part of our operational kit, helping us to remain highly visible and easily identifiable during searches, incidents, and training exercises – often in challenging weather, difficult terrain, and low-light conditions.
As a completely volunteer-led charity, we rely on the generosity of our supporters to help provide the equipment we need to carry out our work safely and effectively.
