Friends of the Beacon Museum Update
We would like to inform everyone that Friends of the Beacon Museum has now been formally closed. This follows a decision by the Committee to step down and no new volunteers have come forward to take on the roles needed to continue the group’s activities.
As a result, there will be no further Friends talks on the first Tuesday of each month. The outgoing committee will ensure that remaining funds left within the Friends group will be used (in agreement with The Beacon management ) on a project / item(s) conducive to the nature of the Friends group.
The Friends of the Beacon replaced the Friends of Whitehaven museum when The Beacon formally opened in 1996 and has been active in supporting local history projects and exhibitions, publication of local history books, fundraising, delivering an annual programme of talks & events and general support to The Beacon.
We would like to thank all those who have supported the group and contributed over the years. The Beacon Museum itself continues to operate as normal, and any future updates about museum activities will be shared through the museum’s official channels.
