We are saddened to share that our friend and committed Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Visits Officer, Brian Jordan, has passed away.
Brian was a much-loved and highly respected member of the Hoylake RNLI community, serving as Visits Officer since 2014. For over a decade, he dedicated countless hours to welcoming visitors to our lifeboat station, sharing the RNLI’s lifesaving story and inspiring people of all ages with his warmth, knowledge and enthusiasm.
Through his role, Brian introduced thousands of children, young people and adults to the work of the RNLI. Whether welcoming school and scouting groups, church organisations, sports clubs or community groups, he had a remarkable ability to engage visitors and make every visit or presentation memorable. His passion for the RNLI and commitment to helping others understand how to stay safe at the coast left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Brian played a pivotal role in developing and growing the station's visits programme. He helped formalise the role of Lifeboat Visits Officer at Hoylake RNLI, creating new ways to organise and deliver visits while ensuring they remained engaging and accessible.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, when visitors could no longer come to the station, Brian adapted by delivering virtual presentations, allowing him to continue connecting with groups and sharing vital water safety messages at a time when communities needed such connections more than ever. Just last year, Brian introduced Hoylake RNLI’s first-ever festive ‘Photo With Santa Day’, which proved to be a spellbinding success and typified his enthusiasm and innovation.
His influence extended far beyond the visitors he welcomed. Brian inspired others to volunteer, recruiting new members to our visits team and strengthening the bond between our lifeboat station and the community we serve. Through his presentations and visits, he also helped raise many thousands of pounds to support the RNLI's lifesaving work. The letters of thanks and drawings by children that were pinned to our station noticeboard following Brian’s visits routinely singled out him out for special praise and were a testament to his passion and impact.
Brian's commitment embodied the very best of volunteering as part of our and he was a true ambassador for both Hoylake Lifeboat Station and the wider RNLI.
He will be greatly missed by us all and our lifeboat station flag is flying at half-mast as a mark of respect. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and loved ones at this sad time.
Thank you Brian for everything you did for our station, our community and our charity.
