Residents Panel for WHBC Tenants & Leaseholders

Residents Panel for WHBC Tenants & Leaseholders The Residents Panel is made up of fellow tenants and leaseholders who volunteer their time and work with the council's resident involvement team.

If you’re a tenant or leaseholder contacting us about a repair, you may notice our team asking some additional questions about you and your household. This helps us meet the requirements of Awaab’s Law and use the information you provide to quickly identify any emergency repairs needed in your home.

During busy times, this may mean slightly longer wait times - thank you for your patience.

Our team is here to help, so please bear with us when we are busy and answer their questions as fully as you can.

Congratulations 🎉 Really good to see our council recognised for its efforts in sustainable, green and decent homes.

🎉🏠We’re delighted to have won ‘Regional Council of the Year’ at the prestigious East of England Regional Energy Efficiency Awards 2026.

This recognition reflects the incredible work of our Investment and Programme Delivery team, alongside our partners at Morgan Sindall Property Services, to decarbonise our housing stock through energy efficiency improvements. Together, we’re helping to create warmer, more comfortable homes while reducing fuel bills for residents.

Adding to the celebration, we also won ‘Regional Large Scale Project of the Year’ for the retrofit programme being delivered across our housing stock.

This is great news and more is being done so that those that live in flats with bin stores can recycle.

We recently expanded our weekly food waste collection service to some flats and maisonettes, making it even easier for more residents to recycle and reduce waste ♻️🍌

This rollout supports new national recycling requirements and is part of our ongoing commitment to tackling climate change and boosting recycling rates across the borough.

There are no changes to your collection day or what goes in each bin.

Members of the panel were lucky to get to view the new development in Ludwick Way. We all agreed that they have been designed well with some great green technology which means they get an EPC rating of either A or B. Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council

Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield are bidding to become UK Town of Culture 2028 🎉

The joint bid, in the Large Town category and under the vision “Distinct by Design”, would bring together Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield through a shared cultural programme.
We want your input! Tell us about the sporting, artistic and cultural activities you take part in – and what you’d like to see more of locally. Your feedback will help shape our bid.
