Walton Lea Partnership

Walton Lea Partnership We are a Warrington based charity that provides an inclusive approach to learning for adults with a wide range of lived experiences.
(236)

Set in a Victorian Walled Garden, we provide opportunities to develop life long skills and to challenge social isolation Walton Lea Partnership is a local based charity that supports nearly 70 adults with lived experiences of a varying range of learning abilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health conditions. It is set within an acre of a Victorian walled garden, just off Chester Road, WA4

6TB. The adults with lived experiences have a day provision with us and range in age from 18 onwards, up to 66! We don't have a retirement age as we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to reduce social isolation. Day provision opportunities, range from one day a week, all the way up to five days a week. The Partnership employs a team of professional staff who provide support for Walton Lea family, not only in work skills but also in education and social and personal development. We often refer to the word 'family', as we understand that not everyone has the support of stereotypical families and we are a safe space for many individuals. We have an outstanding team of volunteers here at Walton Lea and are governed by a Board of Directors who oversee our strategic aims. We also offer a 'Bloom & Buy' service in which you can select your favourite flowers and our fantastic team within the retail department, make the magic happen to create a wonderful bouquet of flowers... Why not pop along and see for yourself what we offer.... don't worry, the kettle is usually on and we always love to chat and get to know you οΏ½

🌟 Volunteer Week Spotlight, Thank You, Sharon! 🌟

Today, we're celebrating our wonderful volunteer Sharon, who has been part of the Walton Lea family for the past two years. πŸ’™

While Sharon is most often found working her magic in our gardens, her impact reaches far beyond the flower beds. From creating beautiful shop and plant displays, helping at events, caring for our plants, and even setting up our Chatty CafΓ©, Sharon brings enthusiasm, creativity and kindness to everything she does. 🌷πŸͺ΄

When asked what inspires her about Walton Lea, Sharon's answer was simple:
"Everything really! The learners, the environment, the plants, the activities, the warmth of the place. Even on a freezing cold day in December, there's a warmth!"

We couldn't agree more!

Anyone who knows Sharon will know that she always has a kind word of encouragement to share. She approaches every task with such care, dedication and love, and her positivity shines through in everything she does. Whether she's nurturing plants, supporting learners, or helping to create welcoming spaces for our community, Sharon makes a difference every single day. πŸŒŸπŸ’›

Thank you Sharon for all that you do. Your hard work, kindness and unwavering support mean the world to us, and Walton Lea is a better place because of you. πŸ’™

🌟 Volunteer Week Spotlight – Thank You, Lemmy! 🌟

This Volunteer Week, we’re celebrating one of the true stalwarts of Walton Lea, our fantastic volunteer, Lemmy! πŸ’™

For the past 5 years, Lemmy has been a huge part of our Woodwork Department, helping to create some truly outstanding pieces and playing an integral role within both the department and the wider Walton Lea family. πŸ”¨ πŸͺš

He particularly loves interacting with our learners, and whether he’s worked directly with them or not, there’s always time for a friendly chat. πŸ’¬

Lemmy has built some wonderful friendships with our learners over the years, Jamie is right at the top of his list, always being incredibly helpful and a pleasure to work alongside. Paul B keeps him updated with all things football and Blackpool related, remembering to ask about Lemmy’s teams, while Sheila still fondly remembers the homemade soup Lemmy brought in for lunch five years ago! To this day, she loves telling him about the soups she’s enjoyed the night before and promises that recipe is coming soon! ⚽️ πŸ₯£

Outside of Walton Lea, Lemmy enjoys spending time with his granddaughter, keeping fit, and getting out for walks whenever the weather allows. πŸšΆπŸΌβ€βž‘οΈβ˜€οΈ

What Lemmy enjoys most is the satisfaction of creating items that can be sold in our shop or enjoyed in our gardens, knowing that his hard work is making a difference and helping to support the charity. πŸ›οΈ

Lemmy, thank you for your dedication, your hard work, your kindness, your humour, and for everything you have contributed over the last five years. Walton Lea simply wouldn’t be the same without you.

πŸ’™ From all of us at Walton Lea, thank you, Lemmy! πŸ’™

🌟 Volunteer Week 2026 🌟

As part of Volunteer Week, we wanted to take some time to celebrate the amazing people who give their time, energy and kindness to make Walton Lea such a special place.

Last week, our learners Richard and Kerry put their heads together to brainstorm interview questions for our volunteers. They then had the opportunity to put their interview and social skills into practice by sitting down with one of our newest volunteers, Neil, who has been with us for 9 weeks.

🎀 What inspires you about our absolutely wonderful Walton Lea?
πŸ’¬ "How everyone wants to learn and develop themselves."
🎀 What do you enjoy the most about Walton Lea?
πŸ’¬ "How friendly and lovely everyone is, and working with new people like the learners and being out in the fresh air."
🎀 What do you do outside of Walton Lea?
πŸ’¬ "I work in my own garden, which isn't as big as Walton Lea! I also look after my house and enjoy cycling."
🎀 What fun activities do you enjoy most at Walton Lea?
πŸ’¬ "Working with the vegetables and growing things from seed and watching them grow."
🎀 Which absolutely wonderful learners do you enjoy working with?
πŸ’¬ "Everybody equally!"
🎀 What did you do before Walton Lea?
πŸ’¬ "I used to work in chemicals making chlorine."

A huge thank you to Neil for taking the time to answer Richard and Kerry's questions and helping them build their confidence. This was such a fun activity that allowed our learners to develop their communication and interview skills while getting to know one of our fantastic volunteers a little better.

To Neil, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Your kindness, dedication and friendship make a real difference every day, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do. πŸ’š

πŸŽ€πŸ•Ί HE HE... who's that stealing the show?! πŸ•ΊπŸŽ€

While attending International Climate Awareness Day, our very own Joe decided it was time to give everyone a special performance, and wow, did he deliver!

Showing us that HE HE’s got the moves, the grooves, and the confidence to match, Joe channelled his inner Michael Jackson and had everyone smiling from ear to ear, he certainly knew how to entertain the crowd! 🌟

We are so proud of Joe for getting up there, expressing himself, and spreading so much joy and laughter throughout the day. It takes real confidence to perform in front of others, and Joe absolutely smashed it!
Keep shining, Joe, you've definitely got star quality! ✨🎢

What a marvellous day our Learner and Community Engagement team had attending International Climate Awareness Day at Fearnhead Cross Community Centre! 🌍🌱

We were proud to host a stall showcasing some of the amazing creations our learners have made from recycled materials, alongside our beautiful plants and refurbished bikes. It was fantastic to meet so many wonderful people, chat with other stallholders, and share the fantastic work happening across our charity. ♻️

The team certainly made the most of the day too, we somehow managed to win the raffle twice and even enjoyed a lovely free lunch! πŸŽ‰

As always, our learners were keen to give back to the community. The team spent time litter picking around the centre, while our wonderful Eddy rolled up his sleeves and helped w**d the community garden. πŸ’š

A huge thank you to everyone at Fearnhead for welcoming us and allowing us to be part of such a brilliant event. We had a fantastic time and loved celebrating climate awareness, community spirit, and sustainability together. πŸ’™

🎨 Arts for Wellbeing 🫟

Earlier this week our Arts for Wellbeing group started putting everything we've been learning about Land Art into practiceπŸŒ±πŸ›˜

Everyone had great fun experimenting and getting creative with natural objects🌳

We also realized how much patience we have to practice to work with nature, and took our time to really slow down and find balanceπŸͺ·

We can't wait to start creating the designs we've been working on for so long next week πŸ‘€

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated to us over the last few weeks! πŸ’›

Our Craft Department has received some fantastic donations recently, including lots of wonderful card making kits, and as you can see, the team were more than happy to get creative and make some beautiful cards for our lovely customers! πŸŽ¨βœ‚οΈπŸ’Œ

Activities like these are such a brilliant way for our learners to build confidence, develop creativity, practice fine motor skills and most importantly, have fun together while creating something special. βœ‰οΈ

We’re so proud of the care, effort and creativity that goes into everything they make, and we know our customers love seeing the finished results too! 🌟
