Team spirit at Pony Club Mini Championships

When the ring’s quiet for a minute, you round up the whole camp for a Chicken Dance — coach included, whether they wanted in or not. Nothing like a bit of team silliness between classes to keep spirits high.

Mini Champs isn’t just rosettes and ponies, it’s moments like this too.

Pony Club Mini Championships at Bicton.

40cm & 50cm — such a massive competition with hundreds of riders, and a fantastic opportunity for everyone to gain so much experience.

Everyone did amazing and should be incredibly proud of themselves. It was lovely to see everyone getting out there, giving it their best and enjoying such a special event.

We also loved seeing our club ponies Nina, Ivor, Aoife and Milo taking part with their riders. They certainly love a trip out — all bathed, plaited and polished!

A brilliant week, lots of memories made and plenty of experience gained. Well done everyone! 🐴.

Huge congratulations to Shannon! 🎉

We’re thrilled to celebrate Shannon, a member of the RAC Saddle Club Pony Club, who achieved her B Test (Ride) this week!

7 other riders from across Area 14 Pony Club also took their B Test on the day, hosted by RAC Saddle Club.

The B Test (Ride) assesses a rider’s flatwork, jumping, and ability to ride different horses confidently — it’s one of the harder practical tests in the Pony Club syllabus, so this is a brilliant achievement for Shannon! 🐴🏆

Huge well done to Shannon and all the riders — you should be very proud! 👏

That’s a wrap on our 2026 camps season! 🐴

8 camps ticked off, starting with our Adult Camp back in June and finishing with our Pony Club Centre Camp.

We were thrilled to welcome so many Pony Clubs from Area 14 to hire our fantastic facilities this year, including South Wilts, New Forest, and Portman.

A huge well done to our staff and coaches — it’s been hard work, but so worth it! We hope everyone enjoyed the camps as much as we did, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather.

We’re already planning dates for next year, so watch this space. For now, we’re looking forward to a little well-deserved rain and rest before British Eventing rolls round in October.

WANTED: Food Trucks & Street Food Vendors!

Are you a local food truck or street food vendor in Dorset? We'd love you to join us for a special evening at RAC Saddle Club, Bovington, Dorset on Friday 12th September from 7pm to Midnight.

Our RAC Saddle Club & Thank You Party is a celebration for our past and present supporters, and we're looking for a few fantastic food vendors to help make the evening even better.

We're looking for:

🍕 Pizza vans

🌮 Street food vendors

🌯 Loaded fries, tacos, wraps, BBQ and other tasty food options.

Please note: We already have a burger van booked, so we're looking for something different to give our guests plenty of choice.

The party will transform our indoor school into a Hoedown-style venue with a bar, disco and live entertainment – all taking place at RAC Saddle Club, Bovington, Dorset.

Let’s get behind Paul, Jess and Abi! ❤️

A huge shout-out to these three amazing people. Not only are they working incredibly hard looking after a full yard of 70 horses through this heatwave, while also running 8 camps, they’re somehow finding the energy to train for the Three Peaks Challenge on 18th September — taking on all three peaks within just 24 hours! 🏔️🥾

Yesterday, after already putting in a full day’s work at the club, they headed out together for a night walk as part of their training. 🌙🥾

Walking through the night after a long day of working, riding and looking after the horses really shows just how much dedication they’re putting into this challenge. They’re clocking up the miles whenever they can, preparing themselves for what is going to be an incredible test of endurance, teamwork and determination.

And they’re doing it all to raise money for three fantastic causes close to their hearts:

💛 Forget Me Not Room at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Their dedication and commitment is amazing, and we’re incredibly proud of them. ❤️

🏆 RAC Saddle Club Pony Club – JCB Championships 2026 🏆

What an incredible few days for our RAC Saddle Club Pony Club members at the 2026 JCB Pony Club Championships at Offchurch Bury, Warwickshire! 🐴

Four of our senior members made the 300-mile round trip to compete against riders from across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, proudly representing the RAC Saddle Club Pony Club on the national stage.

🌟 Novice 90 Dressage
Shannon and Frodo got us underway with a fantastic 65%, while Poppie and Problematic achieved 62%. With more than 40 competitors in their section, both combinations held their own in a very competitive field.

🌟 90 Team Show Jumping
Shannon, Poppie and Esther then joined forces for the 90 Team Show Jumping, competing against more than 200 riders. They tackled a strong 90cm track which demanded plenty of grit, determination and concentration.

Although there were no team placings on this occasion, all three riders represented the club with huge pride. Poppie achieved an amazing 31st place, with Esther finishing 126th in a huge field. A fantastic achievement at national championship level! 👏

🌟 Intermediate Dressage
Harriet and Oscar continued the competition in the Intermediate Dressage, producing an outstanding 74% to win their section. They then went through to the ride-off and achieved a fantastic overall result. 🥇

🌟 Open Dressage
The following day, Harriet and Oscar stepped up into the Open Dressage, scoring a brilliant 68% and finishing 5th overall in another huge and highly competitive section.

A massive congratulations to all our riders and their horses for their hard work, determination and commitment throughout the Championships. ❤️

A huge thank you to Steph and Paul for transporting the competitors and horses, and to Lisa, our Pony Club coach, for staying with the team and supporting everyone throughout the Championships.

We couldn’t be prouder of Shannon, Poppie, Esther and Harriet for representing the RAC Saddle Club Pony Club with such pride. What a team and what an experience! 🐴🏆👏

Join us on Sunday 23rd of August for our Fun Friendly Children's Show, open to Pony Club members and non-members under 16 years, no membership required. Starts at 10am, finishing 3pm.
Three fun events on the day:

Fun showing classes
Clear round jumping
Horse and hound

Classes 1-10 are £5 each. Clear round is £3 per round, or £5 for two rounds bought together, cash on the day. Booking through Entry Master, entries close Thursday 20th August.

Today we’re cheering on our RAC Saddle Club Pony Club riders as they take on the Pony Club National Championships at Offchurch Bury!
