It’s ! On behalf of the Mayor of Hertford, Hertford Town Council and Go Hertford we would like to say a massive THANK YOU to all who volunteer for the benefit of our wonderful local community. 👏 Volunteering is a great way to gain experience, learn new skills and enhance your wellbeing - if you are looking for a volunteering opportunity in Hertford, find information at: https://ow.ly/GHVy50Z6aop , pop into our Town & Tourist Information Centre on The Wash, or see our friends at Hertford Library, who have a host of useful information.

You can also take a look at these organisations to get involved, look for a rewarding way to ‘give back’, fundraise or help others: Hertford Museum, CHIPS, Hertfordshire Mind Network, Mudlarks Community Garden, BEAM Hertford, Hertfordshire Health Walks and the Friends of Hertford Castle - to name but a few, of the many amazing organisations working across the town.

Please feel free to add your Hertford group or charity to the comments below; the Council is working with local organisations to support volunteering – further to our roundtable meeting in March. Plus, the Council hosts the Hertford Energy Hub and loans out litter picking equipment, if you would like to volunteer to help look after our environment. 🌿

We’re proud to be taking part in Volunteers’ Week 2026 🎉

This year marks 42 years of saying thank you to all volunteers across the UK who give their time to support others and strengthen communities.

This volunteers week, we're encouraging you to help shine a spotlight on the people making a real difference in Hertfordshire by nominating your Herts Hero.

A Herts Hero is someone whose dedication, kindness, and commitment are creating a lasting positive impact in our local communities.

Every community has someone who makes a difference.
The coach who gives up their evenings.
The fundraiser who never seeks recognition.
The person who always shows up.

Head over to our website to submit your nomination today and help recognise those who go above and beyond: www.helpingherts.com/hertfordshirehero

We were so thrilled to watch our Climbing Club children build, launch and row a raft at our Climbing (and rafting) Club. Most of these children have autism and team work isn’t always easy for them. Boys, we are so proud of you and hope you had fun. CHIPS: providing safe and sociable activities for children with special educational needs and disabilities in East Herts and Broxbourne.

🪡 We were delighted to meet with the incredibly talented Amwell Quilters in Hertford Heath this week.

The Amwell Quilters are an open-to-all group of 30 women (although men are very welcome!) who have been meeting twice a month for more 30 years.

The women come together to create and craft one-of-a-kind, unique quilts which we think are extraordinary works of art.

The group often auctions off the quilts for charity and we’re thrilled to say that this year, it’s our turn!

🫶 Thank you Amwell Quilters!

As you can see, work is well underway on the beautiful quilt that will be completed then raffled off on our behalf.

We’re sure it will become a treasured piece of art in the home of the person who wins it.

Ladies, it’s exquisite!

🤩 Tickets cost just £1 each and the draw will be made at the Hertford Heath Summer Fayre on the 18th of July.

👉 Email [email protected] for your ticket TODAY.
