Fun and adventure for young people aged 4 to 14 - Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts!

Ever wondered who makes the magic happen at Scouts?

The truth is, all our adult leaders are volunteers. We give up our time simply because we love giving young people the chance to experience big adventures and learn skills for life in a fun, safe environment.

Our team is a real mix of people:

• Parents helping out because their children are in the group.
• Former Scouts passing on the experiences they loved as kids.
• Complete newcomers who caught the Scouting ‘bug’ and never looked back!

Whether you have heaps of experience or have never pitched a tent in your life, you are welcome here. Everyone has a valuable skill to offer—even if you haven’t realized it yet!

Got a spare evening a month? (and a love for the great outdoors?)

Hunsdon Scout Troop is growing, and we're looking for enthusiastic adults to join our volunteers.

Whether you want to get stuck into muddy outdoor activities, help behind the scenes, or teach a specific hobby, we have a flexible role for you. Our teams share what needs to be done between us.

No previous Scouting experience needed—just a positive attitude and a desire to help local young people achieve their best.

Come along for a trial evening and see what we're all about!

The Cubs had a fab visit to Much Hadham Forge Museum last night, to see the 15th century Tudor murals, and then have a go at creating their own. This is a gem of a museum and we'll definitely be back again next year working towards our Local Knowledge badge. Thank you Cristina for looking after us!

We're looking for more help in the group. All sections would really appreciate an extra couple of team members, and will welcome you with open arms! Please get in touch for a chat or arrange a time to visit. Your help will really make a difference!

Found yourself with time on your hands heading into the winter months? If you're looking for a place to be on your mid-week evenings, think of us!

We need more help of all sorts and would love to meet you. No prior experience needed. Arrange a time to come along, and then just go with the flow - we'll support you all the way.

Squirrels (4 & 5) on Thursdays
Beavers (6 & 7) on Tuesdays
Cubs (8, 9, 10) on Thursdays
Scouts (11, 12, 13, 14) Wednesdays

If you can sew, hammer, garden, paint, draw, sing, dance, cook, glue, tidy up (!) then we need your help

There are almost 100 young people enjoying Scouting with us, which is amazing for such a small community. But sadly there are another 30 on the waiting list!

Why not join our team and help us to include everyone? Please get in touch for more info. No prior experience required.

A team of Hunsdon Cubs have just been on the annual Ware and District Cubs Night Hike, completing the 10km route in 3 hours. We had a super clear evening for it and enjoyed spotting the stars and hares.

If you're good with a map and compass, and fancy hiking with us next year, that can certainly be arranged!

We're looking for a bit more help at Cubs. We need tidy-uppers and activity helpers, for as little or much time as you can spare.

An hour every Thursday would be fabulous, but once or twice a month is great too!

On 1st October bookings open for Introduction to the Hills (ITTH) taking place in the Peak District, 30 April to 3 May 2027. Applicants must be be 11 - 13 and have a role in Scouting at the time of the event.

We’re expecting one space to become available around Easter 2027!

If your child is already 3, now is the time to get them on our waiting list. Joining early gives them the chance to enjoy the full two-year Squirrels experience and work towards those top awards! 🌟
