Herts Visual Arts Open Studios at Southern Maltings
September is one of our favourite months at Southern Maltings as we throw open the doors to some of Hertfordshire's most talented artists as part of the Herts Open Studios Exhibition 2026.
For the fifth year running, we're proud to be a host venue, welcoming six inspiring local artists who will be exhibiting their work, sharing their creative processes and offering visitors the opportunity to meet the people behind the art.
From vibrant paintings and intricate printmaking to beautiful mandalas, photography, collage and abstract textures, the exhibition showcases a wonderful variety of artistic styles and techniques. You'll be able to explore the work of Julia Fonnereau, Marian Sheraidah, Rekha Gopinath, Sarah Bissett Scott, Teresa West and Ware The Woman Went, each bringing their own unique perspective and creative story.
What makes Herts Open Studios so special is the chance to connect directly with artists. Discover the inspiration behind their work, watch demonstrations, ask questions and gain an insight into the creative process that you simply don't get in a traditional gallery setting.
Alongside the exhibition, visitors can enjoy a programme of free activities and subsidised workshops, including opportunities to try printmaking, painting and mandala art for themselves.
