"Let's Lift the Curfew" is a national initiative from Sport England's This Girl Can campaign, supported by England Athletics.

The campaign shines a light on the barriers women face when exercising outdoors after dark, including concerns about personal safety that can affect when, where and how they choose to be active. Every woman should feel free to run, walk and exercise outdoors without fear limiting her choices.

Full details of the local event to support this initiative is below, starting from Deal Pier on Sunday 2nd November @ 6pm.

All abilities are welcome!

LET'S LIFT THE CURFEW 2026

This November, communities across the country are coming together to support Let's Lift the Curfew — a national initiative from Sport England's This Girl Can campaign, supported by England Athletics.
The campaign shines a light on the barriers women face when exercising outdoors after dark, including concerns about personal safety that can affect when, where and how they choose to be active.

Every woman should feel free to run, walk and exercise outdoors without fear limiting her choices.

This is an opportunity for our local community to stand together, raise awareness and show that creating safer, more inclusive outdoor spaces is something we all have a part to play in.

Meet at Deal Pier

Monday 2nd November 2026 6:00pm

Bring your head torches, wear hi-vis and bright colours, and help light up Deal!

Whether you run regularly, are new to exercise, walk for fitness or simply want to show your support, everyone is welcome. This is about community, visibility and making a positive difference — not pace or performance.

Let's get out together, get people talking and show our support for women and girls who want to enjoy being active outdoors, all year round.

Let's make ourselves seen. Let's stand together.

Let's Lift the Curfew.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused this week by the closure. The remedial work required relates to small sections of paintwork needed on some of the columns - nothing major but the fresh paint will need some time to dry properly!
