Some of you may remember Edith, she came to us last year extremely fearful of the world after knowing nothing but a breeding life.

Her forever family were previous CPR adopters and it was a match made in heaven. They have worked so incredibly hard with Edith and she is unrecognisable from the dog we first met.

They have been considering a friend for her to help further build her confidence and Ewa was just that little lady.

Edith loves her already and to say her family are already in love is an understatement!

Both these girls couldn’t have asked for better and this makes us all here at CPR, so unbelievably proud of the hard work we do, and are able to do because of all our wonderful supporters

After everything she has been through, this is the ending we had all hoped for.

Shelby has officially found her forever home. We could not be happier for this very special little girl.

When Shelby first came into our care at the beginning of the year after being found, she was in a truly heartbreaking state. Since then, Shelby has amazed us every single day with her resilience and spirit. With love, patience and care, she has blossomed into a happy little lady who is almost unrecognisable from the dog who first arrived with us.

We are delighted that Shelby has gone to live with previous Cinque Ports Rescue adopters, and from the moment she arrived we knew she was going to be thoroughly adored and completely spoilt.

This is exactly the future Shelby deserved and we cannot thank her new family enough for opening their hearts and home to her.

Be happy, sweetheart. Your new life starts now ❤️🐾

Today, Terry had his 1st post op check-up with the wonderful senior vet Keith, at Lakeview Veterinary surgery. We are thrilled to say that Keith is very happy with Terry’s recovery progress. His leg is healing beautifully, and he is showing no signs of pain.

The next step is to begin physiotherapy, and once his wound is fully healed, we will also be looking into hydrotherapy to help support his recovery and rebuild the muscle wastage in his leg.

We want to say a huge thank you to everybody who has donated so far. Thanks to your kindness and support, we have raised around £600 towards our £2,500 target. However, we still need to raise the remaining £1,900 to cover Terry’s surgery. Not including recovery costs, and ongoing therapies.

Please continue to like, share, and follow Terry’s journey. Every share, donation, and kind word truly means the world to us and helps give Terry the best possible chance at a full recovery. ❤️

These last few weeks have been some of the saddest we have faced in some time, as we said goodbye to not one, but three of our beloved permanent foster dogs.

On the same day, we lost beautiful Kara the Beagle and little Prince. Kara had been living with inoperable mammary cancer, as due to her significant heart condition she was unable to undergo the anaesthetic needed for surgery. Despite everything, she remained gentle, loving and full of quiet courage right to the end.

Sweet Prince, who had mobility issues caused by a brain lesion, unexpectedly deteriorated the very same day. He passed peacefully alongside his dear friend Kara, and we take some comfort in knowing they did not leave this world alone.

Then on Friday, we said goodbye to wonderful Merry, who had been receiving palliative care in one of our incredible foster homes. Merry was adored by everyone who met her and spent her final months surrounded by warmth, comfort and love.

Losing three such special characters in such a short space of time has been heartbreaking for all involved. Dogs like Kara, Prince and Merry often have very limited options because of their complex medical needs, but thanks to the kindness and generosity of our supporters, we are able to give them safety, dignity and compassionate care for whatever time they have left.

They may not have found traditional forever homes, but they were deeply loved, cherished and never alone. Their final chapters were filled with soft beds, full tummies, gentle hands and people who cared for them completely.

Thank you to every fosterer, donor and supporter who makes this possible. You gave Kara, Prince and Merry the greatest gift of all, comfort, love and belonging when they needed it most.

Run free, dear ones. You were so very loved.

Our eagle-eyed supporters may have noticed that Terry the Terrier’s rehoming post has been removed. Sadly, this is due to Terry having an unexpected accident during playtime. He careered into another dog and initially, we believed he had simply suffered a soft tissue injury. However, it quickly became clear that something was far more serious.

After x-rays, we were shocked to discover that poor Terry had actually broken his hip. What made it even more surprising was that he hadn’t shown the level of pain you would expect from such a serious injury, brave little soul that he is.

Terry urgently needed surgery, which he has now undergone successfully, and he is currently recovering in his loving foster home. We are so relieved he is on the mend, but his estimated veterinary bill is just over £2,500.

Unfortunately, this has come at a time when the rescue is already operating very close to its financial limit. Like many charities, we have seen our monthly donations decrease dramatically over the last few months during the ongoing cost of living crisis, and we are really beginning to struggle.

We would be incredibly grateful if anyone could spare even a small donation towards Terry’s unexpected costs. Truly, every single pound helps us continue to care for dogs like Terry when they need us most.

Thank you, as always, for your kindness, support, and for being there for our rescue dogs ❤️

🐾 A very special welcome to three little survivors 🐾

We’re so pleased to introduce Jules, Burt, and Ewa — three beautiful puppies recently rescued from a puppy farm, in collaboration with a rescue we are truly honoured to work alongside. 💛

These little ones have already been through more than any puppy should, but they are now safe, warm, and beginning their journey toward the happy futures they deserve.

All three are currently receiving veterinary care while they settle in and start to feel better.

✨ Jules (black & tan Pug x Cavalier) and Burt (Terrier cross) are now open for applications of interest as they continue their recovery.

💖 Ewa (Cavalier) already has a wonderful home waiting with one of our previous adopters, a lovely happy ending already in sight!

We’ll be sharing updates as they progress, but for now, please join us in welcoming them and celebrating their fresh start. 🐶

If you think you could offer Jules or Burt a loving forever home, we’d love to hear from you.

🐾 How is this little face still waiting…? 🐾 We genuinely can’t believe that Shelby hasn’t been snapped up yet 💔 This lovely pug cross girl is everything people tell us they’re looking for sweet, full of character, and ready to bring so much love into the right home. Like all of our dogs at Cinque Ports Rescue, she’s been cared for in a foster home, where we get to see who she really is, not just a kennel version, but her true, wonderful self. Shelby is just waiting for someone to notice her… someone who sees past the scroll and realises she could be their dog. The one who makes you smile every single day, who curls up beside you, who becomes part of your family in the way only a rescue dog can ❤️ We know her person is out there. We just need them to find her. If you’ve been thinking about adopting, please take a moment to read Shelby’s profile and see if she might be your perfect match: 👉 https://cinqueportsrescue.org.uk/dogs-needing-adoption/shelby-pug-crossbreed/
Please share to help her reach the home she’s been waiting for 🐶✨

Rocco’s recovery continues to move in the right direction and we’re so pleased to share another positive update.

This brave little Chihuahua has now had all of his stitches removed, and his remaining open wounds are healing beautifully from the inside out. It’s been a steady journey, but his progress has been remarkable and he’s taking everything in his stride.

The frequency of his vet visits has now reduced to twice weekly, which is a big milestone in itself, and we’re hopeful that he may be signed off completely as early as next week. From there, we’ll be able to bring his vaccinations up to date and start the next chapter for Rocco.

In time, we will be looking for a very special, pet-free home where Rocco can finally relax, feel safe, and enjoy all the love and security he truly deserves after everything he’s been through.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Rocco on his journey so far, it really does make a difference.
