Spaniel Aid A rescue and rehoming charity for spaniels, helping them find great homes for the rest of their lives
(810)

We are a group of Cocker and English Springer Spaniel owners and lovers who have become increasingly concerned by the number of these wonderful dogs being offered for sale or even worse, free to a good home, on internet selling sites. Our aim is to advise owners of the dangers of this, help and advise owners who genuinely have to re home their dogs of better alternatives, encourage people to relinquish to rescue and take into our care any dogs whose welfare we are concerned about. In October 2016, we became a UK Registered Charity here for the benefit of the public to relieve the suffering of dogs namely but not exclusively spaniels, who are abandoned, stray or otherwise in need of care and attention. We provide and assist in the provision of rescuing, rehoming and fostering of these dogs and treat and care for them where necessary. When we see a ‘free to a good home’ dog advertisement, as well as any that are £150 or less, we will email, message or call and offer to help by taking the dog in to be fostered and subsequently adopted. Some people don’t reply, some people can be a little bit rude, but there are some who are simply grateful for the help and advice and it is these that make it all worth while. Registered Charity: Spaniel Aid UK, Charity Number: 1169724

Could you be the one Pip has been waiting for? This lovely boy is still searching for his special someone and a forever home to call his own. 🐾💕

Pip a loyal, affectionate and comical boy. He is a busy lad and loves his humans more than anything. Pip is full of joy with a tail that never stops. Pip has grown in confidence in foster and is enjoying further training. He would prefer to be the only dog and would like a quiet adult only home. Pip would love a home where someone is around most of the time to give him lots of attention and join him on adventures.

Age - 6 year old working cocker spaniel
Children - No

Louie is still waiting for someone special to call his own. Could you be the loving home he’s been dreaming of? ❤️🐾

Louie is a wonderfully affectionate “people” boy who will quickly steal your heart. He absolutely loves being with his humans and has no concept of personal space — if there’s a lap or chest available, you can guarantee he’ll be curled up on it. He loves his toys and will often walk around carrying them in his mouth. After a good walk, he’s happy settling down by the window to watch the world go by or quietly supervising everything happening in the house from your feet. Louie is looking for a family who can truly make him part of their life and who will enjoy sharing his love of getting out into nature on long, varied walks. His new family will need to be happy to continue his training around picking up and stealing valuable items and working on his recall.

Age - 7 year old springer spaniel
Children - Yes, 16+
Dogs - No
Cats - No
Neutered - Yes
Currently in East Yorkshire, England.

❔ What does Foster with a View to Adopt mean?
Sometimes we need to move a dog into a new home urgently. In these circumstances, a dog may go to their new home without a prior meeting, subject to a successful home check and the payment of an adoption fee - refundable if you decide within three weeks not to keep the dog.

In the rare situations where a foster with a view to adopt (FVTA) does not result in adoption then we ask you to continue to care for the dog until we can find a more suitable home.

Looking back on September.

It’s been another busy month for the volunteers at Spaniel Aid; we took in a litter of 10 puppies, and while that did mean a lot of cuddles, they definitely kept us on our toes! We are extremely grateful to our wonderful extended family of fosterers and our transport network for pulling together quickly to enable us to bring the pups into our care. A heartfelt thank you from all the volunteers 🩷

📣 September at a glance:
- 99 requests to surrender dogs
- 50 new dogs came into our care
- 36 transport runs
- 68 home checks were carried out
- We welcomed 26 new fosterers to our family
- 13 dogs became Fail Fosters
- 34 dogs were adopted
- Our vet bills came to £39,383

If you are perhaps not in a position to adopt but have space in your home to help a dog out short term, have you thought about joining us as a fosterer? Our fosterers care for one of our dogs while they are available for adoption, and as a fosterer you would have first refusal to adopt the dog in your home. Find out more about becoming a fosterer: https://spanielaid.co.uk/forms/foster-application-form/

Our transport network help safely move dogs from their previous home to their foster home. If you are interested in joining our transport network we ask that you have a driving licence and can secure the dog in your car by crate, restraint or divider: https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1S5a7NbjbS/?mibextid=wwXIfr
