Our ‘Mindful Eating: Making Peace with Food’ course, which was run in partnership with Health Works (Cooking Good), and started on Monday 21st September at the Riverside Resource Centre in Towcester, has just concluded.
Mindful Eating is about noticing your habits, thoughts and feelings about food. The course was aimed particularly towards women, especially emotional eaters or those who struggle with their relationship towards food; and the focus was learning to be able to enjoy food again without guilt or mindless over-indulgence. It consisted of six weekly workshops exploring what and why we eat; and how emotional eating and unhelpful habits can be tackled. It was non-judgemental and offered no fad diets, but rather just worked through the reasons and solutions to enable women to make friends with food again! Workshops included topics such as Understanding Emotional Eating; What Triggers Cravings; Foods that Cause Low Mood; and Ways to Support Mental Health.
Alongside the workshops, participants made a selection of healthy dishes, including Chorizo Jambalaya and the Shakshuka pictured below.
