KPT Development Trust Development Trust looking at delivering projects for the three communities of Keir, Penpont and Tynron

We are a volunteer based not for profit organisation working towards a better, brighter future for the three rural communities of Keir, Penpont and Tynron in Dumfries and Galloway. Our project aims are to develop the economic, environmental and rural regeneration of our three communities and to do this, we are guided by an action plan, that identified specific project areas requiring improvement.

These include: carbon reduction; affordable housing; community communications; community hub and village halls; community transport; connecting our communities.

A huge thank you and celebration for our volunteer Chair and Director of KPT Development Trust, Maureen Halkett! It is often easy to forget that our trustees are volunteers too. Maureen is a mighty fine example of a community champion. She volunteers her time tirelessly and without hesitation. Whether she is heading up the Trust or getting to grips with whichever task is needed next, her dedication shines through. From managing the Three Villages Community Café, reducing food miles, implementing our zero Zero Waste Scotland policy to supporting our young people, she is always there. She even leads on our campfire cookery during our amazing Summer activities! There is literally nothing this woman cannot achieve if she puts her mind to it. Thank you, Maureen, for your unwavering commitment to reducing social and health inqualities and volunteering to help our community thrive and flourish.

We are incredibly grateful for everything you do - THANK YOU!

Reminder: Celebrating National Volunteers’ Week

National Volunteers’ Week is here, and we want to celebrate everyone who gives their time to our community.

There is no single way to volunteer. Across the Keir, Penpont, and Tynron (KPT) area, volunteering takes many shapes. You can get involved with the Community Council, join a village hall committee, or support a school parent council. Others serve as directors of the local Trust, help organise the annual Gala, or support various local groups, activities, and events. Volunteering is a powerful way to engage with community-led action at the grassroots level. It gives you the chance to meet your neighbours, forge lifelong friendships, and make a real difference to where you live. Thank you to all our amazing volunteers who keep the KPT area thriving!

Here at the , we recognise that absolutely nothing we do would be remotely possible without the input of our wider community. Your energy, ideas, and dedication help us shape our collective future every single day.

So please come along and join us in celebration this evening as we say a very big thank you!

A celebration of Sandy Beer: Behind every great community initiative is a person who quietly makes the magic happen, and for us, that person is Sandy Beer. While Sandy is usually found behind the lens rather than in the limelight, our day-to-day operations such as simply would not run as smoothly without this fantastic support. Thanks to Sandy's dedication, our volunteers are constantly captured in action, and our community stays connected. From updating our choice of social media images to keeping the KPT Development Trust Bulletin filled with the latest snapshots, Sandy ensures our story is captured by the camera and beautifully told. Thank you, Sandy, for always being on hand to shine the light on others and for everything you do for our team!

A massive thank you goes out to Ian Crosbie (Bing) in his role as Chair of Penpont Community Council! Ian is our ultimate "go-to" person for all local matters, and we love that he regularly pops into the KPT Development Trust office to chat, catch up, and keep us fully up to speed. His dedication ensures our community continues to thrive and build the vital resilience needed to tackle today's key challenges.
