Lymm & Thelwall u3a is for the retired & semi-retired to show it's never too late to try something new Members study not for qualifications but for enjoyment.

Lymm & Thelwall u3a encourages its members to share their knowledge and talents freely with each other in informal learning interest groups. This self-help model empowers members to create their own opportunities to learn in ways that suit members best. As a result, members contribute to a wide range of engaging and stimulating interest groups in an atmosphere of mutual support and companionship.

Friday’s Wellbeing Birdwatching group at Pennington Flash on a (mostly) beautiful sunny day. The birds were plentiful and varied, much to our delight. Here’s a selection of what we saw and some photos of the watchers too.

‘First Anniversary’ walk with Wild Things picking up where we left things a year ago. Moore Nature Reserve showed us plenty of colour and 18+ species.

Tony Crotty thoroughly entertained us this morning at our monthly Speaker Meeting. This was Tony's second visit to L & T u3a. His amazing talent on classical guitar has led us to invite him back for more! On this occasion, he talked about many styles of music from Shakespeare's time to the present day and demonstrate by playing them on his guitar. An excellent morning in great company.

Members of Wild Things visited a peatland restoration site today. The area is being rewet by blocking drains, and bunds have been built to retain water. As a result Sphagnum moss and Cotton grass have begun to recolonise the reserve. Thanks to our guides, Lois and Henry, for sharing their knowledge.

Wednesday’s Striders walk up and around Rivington Pike. A really warm day with a welcome breeze, especially on the top of the Pike.

The Friday Ramblers undertook a linear walk for a change! With bus passes in hand we went via the No 5 to Bowden and walked back to Lymm. The group indulged in Ice Creams at Dunham on the way through!

Success! A group of members have just had an excellent tour of the Amazon Fulfilment Centre at Bolton. We were shown around by Dan, the General Manager and everyone came out amazed!

Great meal in great company for the Games Group ‘summer outing’. Games Group restarts on Tuesday 1st September- 1-3pm at Maple Lodge, Pepper Street, Lymm. New members welcome 🤗
