We’re pleased to say that the local legend Chris Allen is back again next month. This time he’s taking us through the Stone Age with a hands on talk. Chris will be bringing in some of this amazing artefacts from his vast collection for us all to have a close up touch and see! And like his fiddle talk, Chris is donating his time in form of a fundraiser for FPS.

Nemo returns this month and we can’t wait! Be sure not to miss this performance, we guarantee you’ll enjoy the evening!

We’re looking forward to welcoming Nemo Jones back on Friday 16th June. He was absolutely amazing when he came and played for us last year.

Tickets available from https://dandelion.events/e/liwl-tfps?

£8-£16

Life Is Worth Living is an interactive performance in which the songwriter weaves the philosophical grounding of his work through open dialogue and into song.

Nemo’s musical and lyrical style is distinctive, bold and engaging, fusing themes of freedom and Sovereignty with a soulful rhythmic and harmonic approach and a paired down, intimate and ultra-dynamic pop sensibility.

He began touring early with his mother, lead singer of anarcho-punk luminaries CRASS - a background which powerfully modelled the inherent political potency of art, opening his mind to the possibility of continuing to ask why, and sometimes, even… why not!

Nemo has since toured, collaborated and recorded extensively, including with Faithless, whose late vocalist Maxi Jazz made a huge impact on his commitment to seeking purpose and alignment with true value.

Here, he offers a bare bones philosophy of the moment, which aims at the roots of human suffering to establish a rational basis for aligned action. Through Socratic and conversational modes we’ll unravel what can be made of meaning today, while inviting dialogue, critique and plenty of sing-along opportunities.

Nemo’s upcoming single, inspired by the untimely deaths of peers, provides the title , and claim , that Life Is Worth Living.

A return of the popular Bring It and Sing It course...

Hi. My name is Amerie Rose. I am a folk protest singer/songwriter and Co-founder of Folk Preservation Society.

Bring It and Sing It is a short course in learning, sharing and creating folksong. The sessions are a fun, accessible and enjoyable introduction into using your voice as a powerful creative tool. How do we capture the stories that move us and transform them into songs that change hearts and minds?

Over three sessions we will explore traditional/folksong and draw inspiration from them to create new writing.

Participants on the last course said:
“I had been looking for something like this for some time."
"I am a shy singer, however Amerie's inclusive, gentle, playful and structured approach, really helped me relax."
"As an elder, I really enjoyed sharing the space with several young people."
"The experience has deepened my friendship circle and helped me integrate further into the community."
“Felt really well held. Now want to come back for more."
"Playful and fun, found my voice.”

If you have anything more specific you’d like to know, please do send over your questions or we can arrange a time for a phone call.

we are delighted to welcome back to FPS, Al Head on Friday 19th June at 2.30pm for a afternoon of songs. Al Head (they/them) is a q***r, non binary, 65 year old singer/songwriter. They
have been writing songs most of their life and, after a career as a trapeze artist,
have recently been more focused on their music, releasing their first album in
2024. They write songs about the land and human's relation to it, the pagan
wheel of the year, environmental and disability activism and lgbtqi+
community, solidarity and experience. In the last few years they have
performed at Exeter Pride, Trans Pride Exeter (which they help organise),
Green Phoenix Festival, Moreton Music Day, Q***r Spirit Festival and Come
As You Are Festival as well as at various environmental actions, where they
can often be found playing music for MAYDAY MORRIS. Find them at

A brilliant evening in the company of Chris Allen where he gave a fascinating hands on talk about fossils. We held fossils that ranged from 2 to 500 million years old, all of which were collected by Chris over his lifetime.

Chris will return next month on the 21st where he will give another hands on talk about The Stone Age. 🪨

Join us for our Summer Solstice parade and ceremony on Sunday 21st June. We shall gather at the pier for 7.30pm where we shall parade with beasts, mummers, friends and family to the point to watch the sunset. All welcome who ever the folk you are.

Do you love fossils? So do we. And so does Chris! In fact, he has had a life long passion and interest in them which has taken him all around the world. And back home, he was on the team which put together the A-Level Geology syllabus for Scotland.
This will be a hands on talk with plenty of time for questions and discussion. And we are scheduling it a little earlier than usual to accommodate those younger explorers amongst you.
Tickets in the usual way - from the shop or by messaging Amerie or Harry 🙂
