🦋What a lovely afternoon spent together at Social Butterflies! 💜

There was plenty of conversation flowing around the tables, with friends old and new enjoying each other's company and taking time to catch up. Alongside the chatter, there were puzzles to ponder, clues to solve, and lots of moments of concentration mixed with laughter.

Of course, no gathering would be complete without something comforting to enjoy, helping to create a warm and welcoming space where everyone could relax and feel at home.
Social Butterflies is all about friendship, connection, and enjoying simple moments together.

Why not join us every Monday from 11:30am to 3:30pm? Whether you fancy a chat, enjoy puzzles and activities, or simply want to spend time in friendly company, you'll always find a warm welcome waiting. Come along, make new connections, and be part of a supportive community where everyone belongs. 💜

FareShare Delivery Day! 🚚💚

Today’s Felix delivery brought crates full of goodness, with plenty of fresh produce and cupboard essentials ready to be shared across our community. From wholesome vegetables to everyday staples, each delivery helps us make sure good food reaches those who need it most.

A huge thank you to FareShare and to our wonderful volunteers who help sort, organise and distribute everything. Together, we're reducing food waste, supporting local people, and turning surplus food into valuable meals and opportunities.
Every crate tells a story of generosity, sustainability and community spirit. 💚

🌺 As we enter this time of Rememberance 🌺

We are so grateful to the talented members of our Crafty Chat group, who have lovingly been creating this beautiful Poppy Appeal display for our church.
Each handmade poppy is a reminder of the sacrifice, courage and service of those who have worked and fought for peace, freedom and justice in our world. As we pause to remember, we also give thanks for their lives and pray for God's peace to reign in every nation and community.

In a world that can often feel divided, this display encourages us to reflect on the cost of peace and our calling as followers of Jesus to be peacemakers in our daily lives.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." 📖 Matthew 5:9

We invite everyone who visits us to take a moment to pause, remember, pray and give thanks.
Thank you to our wonderful Crafty Chat members for sharing their creativity and helping us mark this important season of remembrance. ❤️

As another week begins, we find ourselves looking back with grateful hearts on all that has happened over the past few days. The Scarecrow Trail brought so much joy, creativity and laughter to our community. From wonderfully imaginative scarecrows to the conversations shared along the way, it was a reminder of just how special our neighbourhood is when people come together.

Thank you to everyone who took part, visited, chatted, encouraged and shared ideas. Every conversation, smile and moment of connection helped make the trail more than just an event. It became a celebration of community, creativity and belonging. It was wonderful to hear people sharing their hopes, ideas and dreams for the future, and to see neighbours connecting in new ways.

As we begin a new week, the half-term break comes to an end and many families will be returning to familiar routines as children head back to school. Whether this week feels busy, exciting or challenging, may we step into it with renewed energy, carrying with us the encouragement and friendships built over the last few days.

Let us continue to look out for one another, create opportunities for connection, and be thankful for the many ways our community grows stronger when we work together.

🙏

Loving God,
Thank You for the blessings of the week that has passed. Thank You for the laughter, conversations, creativity and community spirit shared through the Scarecrow Trail. Thank You for every person who took part and every opportunity to connect with our neighbours.
As a new week begins, watch over our children as they return to school, our families as routines resume and all those facing the opportunities and challenges ahead. Help us to carry kindness into each day, to support one another, and to continue building a community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
May Your peace guide us, Your love inspire us, and Your hope sustain us throughout the week ahead.

Amen💛

🧱✨This week at Lego Church, we explored the well-known story of David and Goliath, bringing it to life through Lego builds, Bible reading and creative storytelling. Using our Lego figures and scenes, we followed David's journey from a young shepherd boy to the moment he stood bravely before the giant Goliath, trusting not in his own strength but in God.

As we looked at the story together, we talked about how David faced a challenge that seemed impossible. Everyone around him saw a giant, but David saw an opportunity to trust God. Through discussion and building, we reflected on the giants we might face in our own lives, whether fears, worries, difficulties or situations that seem too big for us to handle alone.

The story reminds us that courage doesn't mean never being afraid. It means trusting God and taking the next step, even when things feel daunting. David's faith, kindness and confidence in God showed that greatness isn't measured by size or strength, but by a willing heart.

It was wonderful to see so much creativity, enthusiasm and thoughtful conversation as the story unfolded brick by brick. We were also delighted to welcome Charlotte, our Divisional Children’s Worker from DHQ, who came along to share the session with us. It is always a pleasure to spend time with Charlotte, and we are grateful for her encouragement and support of our children's ministry.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped recreate this powerful Bible story. We had a fantastic time learning, building and growing in faith together, and we're already looking forward to our next Lego Church adventure! 🧱✨🙏

What a blessed morning of worship and fellowship together today. We were encouraged through readings from Psalm 100 and reflections on God's faithfulness, love and assurance.

Our worship was enriched by a wonderful variety of contributions, including congregational singing, poetry, testimonies, Bible thoughts and beautiful music from vocalists, instrumentalists, the singing group and band.

A memorable Y.P. story reminded us that, just like LEGO bricks connect together to build something bigger, prayer connects us with God, one another, our church, The Salvation Army and the world around us. As we reflected on the many people and places we can pray for, we were encouraged to bring both our joys and concerns before God, trusting that He hears every prayer.

As we sang favourites such as How Deep the Father's Love for Us, How Great Thou Art, Blessed Assurance and What a Friend We Have in Jesus, our hearts were drawn again to the greatness of God's love and grace. Thank you to everyone who took part and shared their gifts so willingly.

We pray that the message, music and fellowship will continue to encourage us throughout the week as we seek to go forward in the strength of the Lord.🙏 "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. Serve the Lord with gladness."

🎃✨ As the evening grows darker and pumpkins begin to glow, we're reminded of an even greater light.

Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” 📖 John 8:12

This evening, as lights shine from windows, doorsteps and lanterns, may we remember the hope, love and peace that Christ brings into our lives. Let's be people who shine His light through acts of kindness, friendship and care for our neighbours.

✨ Shine brightly. ❤️ Share kindness. 🙏 Bring hope.

From all of us at The Salvation Army Swindon Gorse Hill, we pray you have a safe and blessed evening.

A Standing Day at Tesco is always about so much more than collecting money. It’s about a team of people willing to step out, show up and spend time being present in the community. Throughout the day, conversations were shared, stories were exchanged, and connections were made with shoppers, families, staff and familiar faces passing by.

Every volunteer who gave their time played a part. Whether it was holding a collection pot, offering a smile, sharing about the work of The Salvation Army, or simply being available for a chat, it was a real team effort from start to finish.
The generosity of those who donated is deeply appreciated, but just as valuable were the moments of connection. Standing Days remind us that community is built through presence, listening and relationships. They give us the opportunity to meet people where they are, share what we do and let others know that they are seen and valued.

A huge thank you to everyone who stepped out and showed up, and to every person who stopped to chat, offer encouragement or give what they could. Together, we made a difference, one conversation at a time. ❤️
And a final thank you to Heidi the Tesco Community Champion for making this all possible and showing just why you are a champion at your job!

This Sunday, we're celebrating worship together through Swindon Gorse Hill does Songs of Praise.
Led by CSM Louise, members of our corps community will take part in an interactive service filled with favourite songs, shared reflections, personal stories and opportunities to join in. As we hear from different voices across our church family, we'll be reminded of God's faithfulness and encouraged by one another's experiences of faith.

Our Believers Band will also be on duty, helping to lead us in worship and adding to what promises to be a joyful and uplifting morning.

Whether you're a regular part of our congregation or visiting for the first time, we'd love to welcome you. Come and be part of a meaningful time of praise, fellowship, and worship as we gather together to celebrate all that God is doing in our lives and community. 🎶💙🙏
