The Tree of Hope is Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind’s initiative, bringing people together around World Su***de Prevention Day (10th September) and World Mental Health Day (10th October).
The initiative encourages our community to share messages of hope, affirmation and support, helping people to see that they are not alone. The Tree of Hope will also highlight the many safe spaces and sources of support available across our communities, places where people can reach out when life feels difficult, including their workspaces, community cafes, and much more.
The Tree of Hope will run from World Su***de Prevention Day on 10 September through to the end of the week on World Mental Health Day on 10 October, giving organisations supporting the initiative time to add their messages, start potentially life-saving conversations, and help create a safe and supportive culture within their environments.
We want to work with as many people and organisations as possible to show that no one is alone and there is no shame in talking about mental health.
When times feel heavy, reaching out can make a difference. We are here for one another, and Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind is here to provide support when you need it, alongside a number of safe and supportive spaces across Swindon and Gloucestershire.

Keep them coming please people 💚

I’ve printed off 30 leaves so far ready for the Swindon and Gloucestershire Mind Tree of Hope, which will be at Swindon Hub on 10th September for Su***de Prevention Day.
And I’d love your help filling them.

Please send a message of hope, kindness or encouragement in the comments, or via messenger- something you’d like somebody to read, who may be struggling.

It can be a few words, a quote, a reminder, something you wish somebody had once said to you, or something from your heart.

I’ll write your message onto one of the leaves, cut it out and add it to the Tree of Hope for you.
Or, if you’re coming along on the day, I can keep your leaf for you so you can add it to the tree yourself.

Hopefully, by the 10th September, we’ll have a tree absolutely covered in messages reminding people that they matter, they’re not alone and there is hope. 💜
