Thinking about the future isn’t always easy - but putting plans in place now can make a huge difference later.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) lets you choose someone you trust to make decisions for you if you’re ever unable to do so yourself. It’s about staying in control of your wishes, even if life changes unexpectedly.

There are two types:
💙 Health and Welfare -covering care, medical treatment and day-to-day wellbeing
💰 Property and Financial Affairs – covering money, bills and managing finances

Having an LPA in place can bring peace of mind for you and your loved ones, helping avoid uncertainty at difficult times.

Could you help shape later life for older people across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend?

We have 5 Trustee vacancies and no previous trustee experience is needed.

We’re looking for:
⭐ 3 trustees with lived experience - as an older person, someone caring for older people, or anyone passionate about supporting older people in their local community.

⭐ 2 trustees with skills/experience in areas such as grants, fundraising, partnerships, income generation, or strategic development.

This is a flexible voluntary role with quarterly meetings, where your voice and perspective can make a real difference.

This Carers Week, we're here to remind you that you don’t have to figure everything out alone.

Our friendly Information and Advice team supports people over 50 and their carers across Swansea, Bridgend, Neath and Port Talbot, helping you access the right support, understand your options and manage day-to-day challenges.

We can help with:

✔️ Health and wellbeing advice, including accessing health services and tackling loneliness
✔️ Care and support guidance, from home adaptations to care options
✔️ Advice on avoiding scams
✔️ Benefits and entitlements, including Attendance Allowance, Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and fuel poverty support
✔️ Full benefits checks to make sure you’re getting all the support you’re entitled to

If you care about supporting others, especially older people, and want to help create positive change, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re particularly keen to hear from people who bring ANY of the following:

💛 A passion for supporting older people and strengthening local communities
👂 Lived experience of later life, caring, or understanding the challenges older people face
📈 Skills or interest in areas like fundraising, income generation, partnerships, or helping organisations grow sustainably
💡 Fresh perspectives, ideas, and a commitment to making a difference

Whether you’ve served on a board before or this would be your first Trustee role, what matters most is your motivation, values, and willingness to help us expand support for older people across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and Bridgend.

This , we’re inviting you to consider a Trustee role with Age Cymru West Glamorgan 🚀

Are you passionate about improving later life for older people across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, and Bridgend? We’re looking for people to join our Board of Trustees and help shape the direction of our work.

As a Trustee, you’ll play a key role in guiding strategy, strengthening governance, and supporting how we grow and sustain our impact. This includes helping us build strong partnerships, develop income, and ensure our services remain relevant and resilient.

We’re particularly interested in people with insight or experience in areas such as fundraising, income generation, partnerships, and strategic development - alongside a shared commitment to older people’s wellbeing.

OR you might not have any of those skills but DO have lived experience as an older person, caring for, or supporting older people. We want to hear from you too!

⏰ Time commitment: Quarterly board meetings (in person or online), plus occasional sub-committee work, designed to be flexible around your schedule.
This is a voluntary role, but one where your perspective can genuinely help shape services that matter to people’s lives.

Join us for a calm and uplifting summer day at Dyffryn Gardens - one of Wales’ most impressive National Trust estates. With grand lawns, peaceful pathways, themed outdoor rooms, glasshouses and beautifully designed borders, Dyffryn is the perfect place for a relaxed day of exploring.
