Celebrating a special moment for The CAE 💛

We’re proud to have been recognised as a Fundraiser of the Year finalist at the Welsh Charity Awards WCVA | CGGC.

We didn’t take home the top award, but our finalist plaque symbolises a year of developing The Hospitality Academy, exploring new ways to generate income to sustain our impact, and trying public fundraising for the first time through our Swansea Half Marathon campaign.

Behind these efforts are people willing to give their time, share ideas and support us along the way. Thank you to everyone who has been part of it.

Diolch WCVA CGGC for the honour and for a wonderful evening! It was lovely to celebrate together and connect with so many others doing inspiring work across Wales.

🎉 10 years of Id’s Place!

What a joy to celebrate this incredible milestone with ID’s Place Nigerian Food Cardiff this weekend! 💛

Having supported Id at the start of her business journey back in 2016, alongside partners including Purple Shoots, it was particularly special to see how far she has come.

Our CEO, Franck Banza, shared a few reflections on those early days as we celebrated the thriving catering business Id has built over the past decade.

Saturday was a beautiful reminder of the resilience behind entrepreneurship, the power of community and the village it takes to build something lasting.

🎉 We’re finalists!

We’re delighted to have been shortlisted for Fundraiser of the Year at the Welsh Charity Awards 2026! 💙 WCVA CGGC

And what a year to receive the recognition, as The CAE enters its second decade and we look ahead to an exciting new chapter.

Our nomination recognises our biggest fundraising year to date, achieved without a dedicated fundraising team, and, importantly, how we’ve used fundraising to support thousands of people while investing in The CAE’s long-term future.

At the heart of that future is The Academy, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund/ Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol our new community restaurant and Hospitality Academy opening soon in Swansea.

Shaped by our community, local employers and partners, The Academy will create training and employment opportunities while generating income that can be reinvested into our frontline work.

For us, that’s what successful fundraising should do: turn investment into lasting opportunity, impact and greater sustainability.

We’re incredibly proud to have the work of our team and community recognised — and even more excited about what comes next. 💙

💼 Employability is about more than getting people ready for work.

At The CAE, our employability work is about building connections between our community and employers, while also working with employers to reach wider audiences and help make opportunities more accessible and equitable.

Last week’s session with DVLA was one example of this approach. 🚗💬
By bringing employers and our community together, we can help open up conversations, build confidence and create stronger pathways into employment.

We’re committed to building these connections and creating opportunities that work for both employers and our community. 💚

Reflecting, Connecting & Looking Ahead 🤝

In July, we brought together employers, partners, community voices and stakeholders for our Employers Roundtable — marking an important moment as our Ending Workplace Exploitation project came to a close.

The session created space for honest conversations around workplace experiences, fairness, inclusion and the barriers faced by migrant communities. It was also an opportunity to reflect on the learning from the project and discuss how this can shape positive change beyond its end.

Looking ahead, we’re working towards the development of a Migrant Positive Pledge, informed by the outcomes and learning from the project, giving employers an opportunity to commit to fairer, more inclusive and supportive workplaces. ✨

As we close this chapter, we’re grateful to everyone who contributed their time, experiences and ideas throughout the project. The work doesn’t stop here — it’s about turning conversations into commitments and commitments into change.💛
