Join award-winning song leader Eleanor Holliday as we gather by the canal in Stroud for a special Singing in Nature event at dusk. We’ll meet and walk along the towpath, where we will gather and learn some simple nature-based songs together.

All are welcome! Please note if you are bringing children, we’ll ask about this after you have booked.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our annual Green Halloween event! 👻

We welcomed nearly 50 children to our free workshop, where they got creative making sustainable Halloween accessories from willow and paper. We also saw some truly extraordinary entries in our pumpkin competition! 🎃🍂

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along and helped make the day so special! 💚

✨ A few special shout-outs:

🌿 Museum in the Park – thank you for hosting us and for jumping in to help make willow wand accessories when demand for our workshop was so high!

📚 Muddy Little Boots – thank you for joining us to sign books, read to an eager audience and take on the job of judging our pumpkin competition!

☕️ Miss Daisy - thank you for bringing the yummiest treats (the pumpkin cake was a particular highlight)!

💚 Tamsin, SVP’s Project Officer – a massive thank you for organising and running her 14th Green Halloween event!

Green Halloween is today!

Come along to the Museum in the Park for an afternoon of Halloween-themed fun. Drop in anytime between 2.30pm - 6pm.

There will be crafts, storytelling, refreshments and our now traditional pumpkin competition and trail.

It’s free and family friendly. See you there!

It may have somehow escaped your attention but Wednesday 21 October was World Earthworm Day. 🪱🪱🪱

It was a day on which to celebrate, educate and promote this extraordinary organism that works away under our feet building soil, creating that humus which in turn feeds plants, holds onto moisture, reduces plant heat stress and reduces run-off and flooding. The composting species of earthworms also help us compost our garden and food waste.

Stroud Valleys Project’s Fred works with The Gloucestershire Master Composters to promote home composting, and they held a worm day event at Longlevens Library in Gloucester.

Children were invited to delve into some soil and find five different species of earthworm. They learnt how to care for them by keeping them moist, and they noted their segments, colours, size, and the clitellum or 'saddle' on the worm's body. They drew them and then used soil and clay as a 'paint' to depict the world of this creature.

Many useful conversations about composting were held - an action that is both fascinating and helps the environment.

Really inspiring to hear from students at Rednock School (Official), Stroud High School and Archway School about the ways they're improving their schools for climate and nature! Great to have a tour of the eco building features at Rednock too.
Thanks Stroud District Council for a really useful Climate & Nature Partnership meeting. We look forward to making more connections in our community in the world of environmental education.

Green Halloween is a couple of days away!

Pumpkins in the Park is almost a Stroud tradition at this point – it’s a wonderful family event with loads going on: crafts, storytelling and, of course, our Pumpkin competition and trail. Drop your pumpkins off between 2.30pm – 4.45pm, ready for judging at 5pm.

It all starts on Sunday at 2.30pm at The Museum in the Park and it’s completely free: no need to book, just drop in at a time that suits you.
