20 YEARS OF PRIDE 💜🏳️🌈
On 12 August 2006, the very first Pride event took place in our county. At the time, Gloucestershire had no Pride marches. LGBTQ+ visibility was very different, and creating a space where our community could come together, be visible and celebrate who we are was something that took courage, determination and a whole lot of community spirit.
Fast forward 20 years, and look at where we are.
Today, Gloucestershire is home to multiple Pride marches and celebrations, organised by passionate volunteers and organisations across the county. LGBTQ+ people are more visible, more connected and more able to come together in communities right across Gloucestershire.
That progress matters.
Today is about more than looking back at how far we have come. It is about remembering the people who stood up and marched when there was no Pride to join. The volunteers who gave their time. The communities who created spaces for one another. And everyone who has continued to campaign, celebrate and make Gloucestershire a more welcoming place for LGBTQ+ people.
Tonight, we want to celebrate 20 years of that journey. 💜
Join us outside Shire Hall at 7pm for speeches, stories and a chance to come together as a community.
Then, in a very special moment, we will re-walk the route of the original Rainbow Day march from 2006 ending at the Coach and Horses for a special celebratory evening.

Let’s come together, remember where we’ve come from, celebrate where we are today, and look forward to where we’re going next.
