Meet Judith, one of our wonderful volunteers who keeps the Beechwood bookshop organised and thriving! πŸ“š

Using skills from her previous NHS role managing health records, Judith has taken on the challenge of organising our bookshop and sorting through countless donated books β€” all while helping to raise vital funds for Beechwood.

Judith chose to volunteer after her own breast cancer diagnosis in 2024, wanting to give something back to a charity she had seen make a difference to the lives of friends and loved ones.

πŸ’¬ "I've been made to feel so welcome at Beechwood by everyone and really enjoy my time in the bookshop each week."

From finding the perfect book for visitors to supporting our fundraising events, Judith is making a huge difference.

Thank you, Judith, for all that you do! πŸ’œ

His first ever half marathon, and yet Harrison pushed himself to the limit and crossed the finish line in an incredible time of just under 1 hour 35 minutes! πŸŽ‰

Not only that, but he has already raised an amazing Β£2,000 for Beechwood, with more donations still to come.

We're so grateful for your dedication, determination and support, Harrison. Congratulations on an outstanding achievement! πŸ‘

Today, we're recognising Paul, one of our fantastic volunteers who helps keep Beechwood running behind the scenes. As a volunteer, Paul takes on a variety of roles, from assisting our van driver to helping with maintenance jobs across our Centre. His willingness to lend a hand wherever needed makes a real difference to the Charity. πŸ”¨

After retiring, Paul decided to volunteer as a meaningful way to use his time and skills to support others.

Paul first connected with Beechwood through his business, having fitted blinds for the Charity in the past. He chose to volunteer with Beechwood because he has seen the impact cancer can have on friends and family and wanted to support a cause that is close to his heart.

πŸ’¬ "I've had friends and family affected by cancer, so supporting Beechwood felt like a great way to give something back. Everyone here is so friendly, and it's a pleasure to be part of the team."

Thank you, Paul, for your dedication, skills and ongoing support. We’re incredibly grateful to have you as part of Beechwood. πŸ’œ

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ A huge well done and thank you to Elaine for once again taking on the Great Manchester Run 10K in support of Beechwood Cancer Care! πŸ’œ

Despite battling her own health issues, Elaine showed incredible determination to keep her 23-year streak going. She powered through in true spirit, mixing running, jogging and walking all the way to the finish line β€” and in true Elaine fashion, did so in full fancy dress with her partner as Ghostbusters! πŸ‘»πŸš«

Elaine's amazing efforts have already raised over Β£800 for Beechwood, with more donations still to come.

We are so grateful for your commitment, resilience and continued support β€” thank you, Elaine, and congratulations on another incredible year! πŸ‘

Today, we're celebrating Amy, one of our wonderful volunteer therapists at Beechwood Cancer Care. Amy offers Reiki therapy, a gentle, non-invasive treatment that promotes relaxation and wellbeing, helping people find a moment of calm.

When asked why she volunteers, Amy said:

πŸ’¬ "I find helping and supporting others going through difficult times rewarding. I also have an underlying medical condition myself, which helps me connect with and support others in a compassionate way."

One of the things Amy enjoys most about volunteering at Beechwood is meeting new people and often introducing them to Reiki for the very first time.

πŸ’¬ "I love the feeling that I've made a difference to someone's life for the better."
Thank you, Amy, for sharing your time, kindness and expertise with Beechwood. πŸ’œ
