What does County mean to you? 🎨

Our ‘What County Means to Me’ creative wellbeing session is back with an update on how our participants are getting on.

We caught up with leading the sessions, one of our participants and a member of our Inclusion team to hear about what the project has meant to them.

Creative sessions like these bring people together, help them build friendships and give them a real sense of belonging. They’re a big part of our Connect Communities work, reducing isolation and supporting mental health and wellbeing across Stockport. 🫶

⚽ Kyle Wootton joins our Premier League Primary Stars Black History Month workshop!

Last Thursday, Kyle Wootton visited Alexandra Park Primary School to support our Black History Month workshop. He went around the groups to help pupils with their activity, then joined a Q&A, answering their questions about football, role models, and making a positive impact. 🙌

Pupils worked in teams to learn about inspiring men’s and women’s footballers, then thought about how they can celebrate diversity in their school.
A huge thank you to Kyle for giving his time and getting stuck in.

Football brings people together. It’s More Than a Game.

Inspiring Futures: Digital Champions 💻

Our Education Team delivers a free six-week programme in primary schools across Stockport, and Digital Champions is one of our most popular. Pupils explore online safety, from recommended screen time to the internet's pros and cons and their digital footprint.

Our coaches bring the sessions to life through classroom activities, group work and independent learning, with a bit of football thrown in too. Pupils build confidence, work as a team and gain the skills they need to make informed choices online, in the classroom and beyond.

Proud to be inspiring futures and equipping the next generation with skills for life. 🔵⚪

Before kick-off against Bromley, our Health & Wellbeing team were out in force at Edgeley Park. 🏟️

Working alongside colleagues from Public Health, the team spoke with supporters about flu awareness and how to stay well this winter, while also sharing the range of activities we run across Stockport. 🤝

Our aim is simple: make it easier for everyone to get active, whatever your age, ability or background. By removing barriers and putting accessible, affordable opportunities in the communities that need them most, we can help build healthier habits that last a lifetime. 💙

Inspiring Futures with Beyond the Game. 💙

We were thrilled to welcome Ben Osborn to our player-led programme, Beyond the Game, last week.

Delivered over 12 weeks with local schools, the programme aims to raise aspirations, improve school engagement and help young people achieve their potential.

Ben spoke to the children about his career, encouraging them to pursue their aspirations and make choices that will positively impact their lives.

With Ben as ambassador, participants take part in weekly workshops and football and leadership sessions, building resilience, public speaking, empathy and problem-solving skills.

They will go on to coach primary school pupils and finish by presenting a social project at Edgeley Park to a panel of County players and scholars, a first step on the pathway to future opportunities. 🏟️

Beyond the Game was made possible by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Fund. Administered through the Premier League Foundation, the funding helps football clubs to tackle inequality and respond to local challenges, supporting people and their communities to be more inclusive.

Thank you, Ben, for giving your time! 👏
