No mistaking the brand association in this 1971 ad. A Rolls-Royce peeps into the image promoting Wilson’s Silver Cross prams. Enough said.

Burberry’s were nearly one hundred years old in this 1954 ad, and keen to emphasise that heritage. Curiously, even the mailcoach depicted would have been obsolete when Burberry’s set up, but no matter because the message is clear.

At the time of this 1971 ad for ‘The pipe’ by Venturi, pipe-smoking was seen as a cut above tobacco-smoking. Venturi make a big deal of their use of synthetic materials to associate progress with tradition.
