KLSB Community Group

KLSB Community Group Our vision is to help tackle food poverty and bring initiatives to our local community.

KLSB started as a small group set up by a few friends to help tidy up a local park in Stenhousemuir. We quickly grew and after a while, we began operations to start a local community food pantry as well as carrying out gardening work in our community. In 2021 KLSB became a registered charity meaning that we could expand the work that we do through funding. Our community pantry now supports over 50

households per week as well as offers emergency support to agencies and local institutes such as NHS Forth Valley, Police Scotland, Falkirk Council, Family Support, Local Schools and Citizens Advice, etc. In August 2022 we brought a community kitchen/coffee shop to our premises at 17 King Street where we offer work experience and a chance to gain a recognised qualification as a barista to young adults from Larbert High School. We continue to work in the gardens and in 2022 we planted 4 large wildflower meadows on King Street as well as placed over 60 large floral displays in our town center and surrounding areas. KLSB is supported by a team of volunteers and we have forged alliances with local businesses who help and benefit our initiatives.

We’ve had a lot of enquiries asking if the Christmas gifting tree will be in Asda again this year. It definitely will be, Hazel at Asda and I have already began organising it. It’s just a little bit too early to start publicising this because it’s still flip flop weather ☺️ ☀️. We also need to give agencies time to get their referrals in as the schools are just back.

We’ll share details of how to get involved at the beginning of October.

🌟 **A Fantastic Summer of Cooking at The Point Community Café!** 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Over the summer holidays, we were delighted to welcome local children to our Wee Scottish Chefs Pilot Initiative at The Point Community Café.

Throughout the programme, the children learned new cooking skills, prepared a variety of delicious recipes, built confidence in the kitchen, and, most importantly, had lots of fun along the way!

We'd like to say a huge thank you to Cash for Kids for funding this wonderful pilot initiative. Their support made it possible for us to provide these free cookery sessions, giving local children the opportunity to learn, create, and enjoy healthy food in a welcoming community setting.

We're so proud of everything the children achieved and grateful to everyone who helped make the pilot programme such a success!

Now we’ve ran the pilot initiative and received feedback we can work on hopefully rolling this out for other school holidays.

Thank you to David at the cafe, Hazel at Asda, the staff, children and parents at Inchlair Nursery (who agreed to be a part of this pilot initiative) and our Thursday Crochet ladies for being part of the inter generation aspect of this pilot programme. It was a resounding success.

Here's to many more community projects in the future! 💚

💚 A Huge Thank You to Sainsbury`s Kinnaird Village and Our Amazing Community! 💚

We want to say a heartfelt thank you to Sainsbury's Kinnaird Village for supporting the KLSB Community Foodbank and Pantry by providing an in-store food donation point.

This donation point gives shoppers a simple way to help local families, and we're incredibly grateful for Sainsbury's commitment to our community.

We also want to thank the kind and generous people of Kinnaird Village. Every tin, packet, bottle and toiletry that you donate helps ensure local people facing hardship have food on their table when they need it most.

Your continued support allows us to provide emergency food, stock our community pantry, and be there for individuals and families across Larbert, Stenhousemuir and the surrounding villages.

Together, we're proving that even the smallest act of kindness can make a huge difference.

From everyone at KLSB Community Group – thank you for standing with your community. ❤️
