We’re putting a call out to our community, we are in need!

Right now, we are really short on food donations and urgently need your help to keep our homeless hot meal service and foodbank running!

We rely heavily on food donations to provide hot meals for people who are homeless and to support local families through our foodbank.

We are open 52 weeks a year and donations from the community are what keep these services going and allow us to continue supporting both adults and children who need a little extra help.

Items we really need at the moment:
Tinned meat (ham, corned beef, hot dogs)
Tinned vegetables (sweetcorn, peas)
Pasta sauce
UHT milk
Biscuits
Tea & coffee
Sugar
Pot noodles

If you can add just one extra item to your shopping this week, it would make a huge difference to someone in our community.

Donations can be made Mon-Fri 9-4pm

💛 A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible Volunteers 💛

As part of Volunteers’ Week, we want to give a special shout-out to the amazing team who supported our evening food service tonight.

Every week, our volunteers give their time, energy and compassion to help us support those who need us. Tonight, however, was particularly exceptional.

Despite torrential rain, thunder and lightning, our dedicated volunteers were there with warm smiles and a determination to ensure every person who came through our doors felt welcomed, valued and supported. This evening, we welcomed 119 guests, and thanks to our volunteers, every one of them received the kindness and dignity they deserve.

The One Love Project simply could not deliver its services without the commitment, generosity and compassion of our volunteer team. You are the heart of what we do, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you give to our community.

Thank you for making a difference, every single week. 💛

⭐️Join Our Board of Trustees ⭐️

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community?

The One Love Project is currently seeking to expand its Board of Trustees.

This is an exciting opportunity to play an important role in providing strategic direction, supporting good governance, and helping us continue our work with people experiencing homelessness, poverty, social isolation, and other complex challenges within our community.

We are particularly keen to hear from individuals with lived experience of homelessness, housing insecurity, poverty, mental health challenges, addiction recovery, social isolation, or accessing support services.

Your experiences, insights, and perspective can help ensure that the decisions we make as a charity remain informed, compassionate, and centred on the needs of those we serve.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive Board where every trustee can contribute meaningfully, regardless of previous board experience.

Trustee positions are voluntary and part time, and support and induction will be provided.

Thank you for being part of The One Love family 💜

We are sharing our Sunflower Seed journey as part of a campaign. The campaign is all about coming together as a community to support young people across Southend - helping them build confidence, find stability and look ahead to brighter futures.

Our group who attend Well-Being Wednesday and the children who attended Food Bank supported the campaign by planting sunflower seeds.

💛 Our Well-Being Wednesday runs every Wednesday from 11am -2pm, we run meaningful activities and is open to all!!

💛 Food Bank runs every Wednesday 5.15pm (registration required) and Thursday 11.30am (adults only) and 1pm (adults & children).

Don’t forget to share your sunflower seed journey too!

Are you looking for things to do with your children this bank holiday?

Why not learn about carbon monoxide (CO)?

Keep your children and family safe from the dangers of carbon monoxide with Safety Seymour.

Saturday Seymour is on the lookout for new CO safety assistants to help them on their quest to spread the word on the dangers of carbon monoxide.

They want to rid homes of the threat of carbon monoxide to keep you and your families safe.

Watch Seymours cartoons to find out all about CO and how to stay safe. There are also a number of fun activities for you to do.

Are you ready to help Safety Seymour on their mission? 👉 safetyseymour.co.uk

There is still time to register!!!✨

If you are working hard — whether full time, part time, on a zero-hours contract, or you are a student over 18 — and still finding it difficult to keep up with the bills, you are not alone.
We know that getting to a daytime food bank is almost impossible when you are working, and many people feel they don’t “qualify” for help just because they have an income. That’s why we have created our Working Family Food Bank, open later in the day for working households.

What We Offer 💛

We host a community food market where you can access a variety of cupboard essentials at greatly reduced prices (for example, tinned items @ 30p).

We also offer some free perishable items (such as bread, fruit and vegetables)

Sometimes a small amount of extra support can make a big difference. Our Working Family Food Bank helps to top up your food shop, so your money can go further for the rest of the things your family needs.

Registration 💛

This is a self-referral service, so you do not need a voucher from a doctor, social worker or agency — you can refer yourself.

However, this food bank is registration only, and you will need to register before attending.

We ask people to register so we can make sure we have enough food available each week and so that everyone who attends receives the right support. Registration also helps us plan our food, reduce waste, and make the service fair for everyone.

To register, scan the QR code, complete the registration form and we will confirm your attendance

Where and When 💛

Location: The One Love Project (see map)
When: From Wednesday 15th April and every Wednesday after
Time: Doors open at 5:15pm – Last entry 6:15pm (closing at 6:30pm)
Please note: There is no on-site parking.

Not currently working, no problem!

We also run our daytime food banks. These are non-referral and no registration required:

Thursday 11:30am – 12:30pm (Adults only)
Thursday 1:00pm – 2:00pm (Adults with children)

A big thank you to Big Sparks funding for enabling us to deliver this service.
