The Mayor of Solihull, Cllr Sardul Marwa MBE, and Leader of the Council, Cllr Karen Grinsell, proudly joined Shirley Royal British Legion and children from Kingswood School in Shirley Park yesterday to raise the Armed Forces Day flag to mark the start of
🇬🇧 Armed Forces Week 2026 🇬🇧.

This special community event brought together local residents, dignitaries and veterans to show their support and appreciation for our Armed Forces.

This Father’s Day, we remember the Armed Forces fathers who are serving away from home on operations, exercises and overseas deployments.

While families across the country celebrate together, many military dads will be missing those precious moments with their children—and many children will be missing their dads.

To every father serving away today, thank you for your dedication, sacrifice and service. We also recognise the strength of the families holding things together at home.

Wishing all Armed Forces fathers a safe and happy Father’s Day, wherever you may be. 🇬🇧

Volunteer Traffic Marshals Needed – Remembrance Sunday Parade

We are looking for volunteer traffic marshals to help support this year’s Remembrance Sunday Parade.

This is an important community event, giving everyone the opportunity to come together, remember the fallen, and show their support for our Armed Forces community.

Volunteer traffic marshals play a vital role in helping the parade run safely and smoothly. Full instructions will be provided, and you do not need any previous experience — just a willingness to help.

If you are able to spare a few hours on Remembrance Sunday, we would be extremely grateful for your support.

Please comment below or message us directly if you can help.
