Community solar, anywhere. The Big Solar Co-op is a not-for-profit, carbon-first and volunteer-powered organisation.

We’re solarising commercial and community buildings all over the UK from doctors surgeries to factories and everything in between.

Solar generation naturally dips in winter as daylight hours shorten. But the real story is the clean energy generated over time and the impact keeps adding up.

Across Big Solar Co-op’s live sites, our 1,464 kWp of installed solar capacity has generated 2,343 MWh of clean electricity so far!

That’s equivalent to:

🏡 Powering 868 homes for an entire year
🚗 Driving 7.3 million miles in an electric car
🌱 Avoiding 923 tonnes of CO₂ by displacing gas-generated electricity – equivalent to the annual carbon footprint of around 109 people.

Solar’s impact is measured over years, not seasons. And these figures show what we can achieve together. 💚

We are looking for sites with large roofs (tennis court sized and up), high electricity usage (bills over £1.5k/month) and that are owner occupied (freehold) to host our solar panels with no capital outlay.
